I will try to keep this story, short and concise, with that typical Wire Editor Newman, BIT Bit of Humor. That may be hard to pull off, Especially the Humor, part. Actually finding out what the Doctor found I actually had had 3 strokes, hardly amuzing, not a smile or a grin, Not a ha ha or TE-He, not a smirk, and certainly not aLOL.But such was my life for the past couple of monthsh.

.

It all started on a Monday night when I was just about to leave work.

Simple but things were not adding up. I had 3 or 4 writing pens i tried to put in a simple Coffee Mug, posing as a pen holder. But I missed the coffee mug every time. I even asked myself, why can’t I do this as simple as this is. With some nervousness. I tried again. And I missed everything again.

I told myself, that is it, I am going home.

It was not my best plan, but I walked to my car, to drive myself home. I admit I was sitting high in my Ddrivers seat, gripping my steering wheel with white knuckles, Stedially wondering if this was a good idea. And yes, I was wearing my seatbelt.

When I arrived home I went straight to bed. I tried to sleep, but lets just say, I got sick. For the bean counters, it was more than once.

When Wifey Wire got home, she immediately called (911. I knew I was introuble, so I made my way to the living room. As I sat in my recliner, six of the biggest firemen I had ever seen walked into my house. They just about took up the living room. Great Firemen, just huge.

One Fireman completely picked me up, and moved me to the sofa. I was never more impressed in my life. The Firemen took my vitals, and gave me the news. Sir, your vitals are over the chart.

But Sir, you simply do not meet our criterra to transport you to the Hospital. Sir you are not sick enough. So I asked, How sick do I have to be? The firemen then told me to have someone to take me to the ER.

First Mistake.

I was transported to a certain close hospital, ER. I will not mention the Hospital name, because I do not like to talk bad about people. Lets just say, this hospital let me lay down in in the ER, and get sick 3 or 4 times!

Then a certain Nurse walked in, and told me, OK Sir, you can go home now. GoHome? No meds?, Sir we took your vitals. My ththoughts went to the Firemen. After all I was not sick enough for them either.

My Ride to the next hospital , Arrives at The Front Door of the hospital. As I walked to the front dooor of my ride. And after holding in to every pole, large planter, and slow moving person I saw, I made my way to the front seat.

I told my ride, Do NOt take me home. Take me to another certain hospital 10 minutes from her. Unbeknost to me, she drove like she was in NASCAR, and we made in in more like 4 minutes. Talk about my Vertago.

Arriving at their ER, I was met by a team of Nursess, and hospital staff.Inside the ER one Staff worker, garbbed me on the Dolly, I was on and slid me to a bigger portable hospital bed. So I asked her, you don, don’t work for the Fire Dpartment do yo? She laughed and asked why? Smiling , I told her, It is a long story, nevermind.

The hospital called for a Team of Doctors. Now I know I am in trouble.

The Doctors, and I said Doctors with an “S”, were spouting off, all the test they would perform. Honestly I was fine with just saying do what you have do. Safe to say, I do not think they missed a single major organ, Certainly not the brain and the heart.

Long Story short

I had one Doctor in a small Testing room of some kind, telling me what he would be doing. Honestly, in hind-sight, I wish he would have told me later, What He had Done.

zthe Diagnosis.

I am not sure If I am ready for this. The Doctor was great in every sense of the word. His explanations, His Bed Side Manner, Everything.

Mr. Wire, let me just say, your heart is fime. However, Yes, you did have a stroke from this. The tears started swelling up. Thank you Doc. However Mr. Wire I do see where you had 2 — additionsl strokes, all all of which are in yourin your brain. Now the flood gates are really swelling up.

Mr Wire, The good news is your limbs are OK, Your speech is ok, He laughed and said. Well, Kinda good OK. My speech was sorta slurred, But OK now.Your face and features are ok.I want you to rest, and we are going to get you through this.

I was able to say a quick Prayer of thanks,

I was so happy and so lucky, because I knew this could have been so much worse. Then something so comforting and so warm came over me. God spoke to me, to my soul. God spoke to me and assured me He was with me.

What God Said tome, Two Things”

Number 1 — control your blood pressure, nd Number 2 — Reduce Your stress.

At that same time, the Doctor had made it beside me as I layed in bed. Mr Wire, can you hear me ?, as I smiled and said said Yes Sir. Mr. Wire I want you to change some things, especilly your Blood Pressure and your stress.

I just smiled a big grin, as I knew God had just told me the same advice. Let,s work on that first Mr. Wire.

Page 2 The Rest of the Story. “Thank you, Paul Harvey.”

My entire diet has to change. Everything!I no longer eat anything in a Bag, a Box, or in a Can. Iwas told when I walk in a grocery store, I can only turn the produce depwrtment, and maybe some meat on the back isle. No Coffee Mr. Wire. Certainly not your one pot per day, before 12:00 Noon. And your evening time cups of coffee.

No Sugar, no Salt, no spices. Bland, everything has to be bland. Lucky me, I do not even have a salt shaker, I do not add salt a s Iprepare my food. And I don't drink sugar drinks of any description, Even in a restaurant I AK FOR SUGAR FREE TEA, AND NO LEMON.

That is actually easier to say than it is. I live in Louisiana, some of the best foor in the world. So delicious so spicey, and you know there is salt somewhere in every Gumbo. However, I do yeild to Texas, for their BBQ. So in Louisiana if I want homemaid Cajun food I can just walk outside and smell what the neighbors are cooking. Or if I want the best BBQ, I get on the interstate and drive west to Texas.

But those days may be over.

After 3Weeks in the hospital, 3 weeks in Rehab, and now around 12 weeks in additional Rehab, The Future has never been so bright,

A WARNING TO ALL

There Several signs to a Stroke.

Please Do a search on Signs of a Stroke. Be Familar with them. And if you have any of those Symptoms seek medical care. Be that a hospital or 911, minutes count. Don’t be like how I was. Wifey Wire calls me, “Hard Headed” Plus some other Filipino words I don,t understand.

“I am now confined to a walker pretty much, and I definitely do not drive.”
