Every year, I told myself that I will check out more books and spend less time scrolling. Every year, a handful of novels completely derail that plan and are not likely to make it down the road.

You know what the books I’m talking about are like — the ones you read to “just one extra chapter” all at once overnight, then at 2 a.m., and find yourself turning pages anyway.

During these 12 months, I determined seven storybooks that had an impact on me. They just weren’t right; They were tied up. Each one pulled me into a world so compelling that I found myself making dinner, running around, even watching myself sleep and thinking about characters .

Here are seven storybooks that have completely shaped my analytical existence this year.

1. Project Hail Mary

I picked up this e-book because I heard people appreciate exciting space travel. What I failed to imagine changing was how emotionally invested I could become.

The story follows a man who wakes up in a spaceship with no memory of who he is or why he is there. As the memories slowly return, the stakes become clearer — greater than I could have imagined.

The mix of science, mystery, humor, and heart made this analysis impossible to tackle. Every chapter discovered something new, and I constantly wanted answers.

2. The Silent Patient

This psychological mystery caught my attention from the first page.

A famous painter rips the man off, then refuses to say every other sentence. Years later, a therapist is drawn to uncover the truth behind her silence.

The chapters are short, the suspense keeps building, and the suspense feels almost impossible to handle. I spent the entire book theorizing, only to find that I was completely wrongly converted.

That’s the kind of analytical experience I love.

3. Fourth Wing

If the hype surrounding this hoax novel turned out to be accurate, I wasn’t positive.

There has been a change.

Dragons, military training, dangerous races, political secrets and techniques, and unforgettable characters combine to create a story that moves at lightning speed

Every time I finished bankruptcy, some other cliffhanger would appear and watch me. Before I knew it, hundreds of pages had disappeared in what felt like an afternoon.

4. Dark Matter

Some books entertain you. Others fit your thinking perfectly.

The story evolves when a physics professor is kidnapped and wakes up to a fact that seems almost identical to his own — and is not.

The idea sounds easy at first, but quickly turns into an interesting journey through alternative realities, not to mention possible choices, and questions of identity.

I kept declaring “just one bigger bankruptcy” over and over until I finished the entire e-book.

5. The Housemaid

If you’re looking for a fast-paced mystery, this book will give it to you.

The girl takes the running for her family of rich and yet now almost feels something wrong. Stranger things happen the longer she stays.

What makes this novel addictive is the constant sense that everyone is hiding something.

Every revelation raises new questions, and the story never slows down. It felt like watching an entire season of an exciting TV series in book form.

6. Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow

This book surprised me more than anything else on the list.

It is about friendship, creativity, ambition and the complex relationships that make up our lives.

The story follows friends who have been making video and video games together for several years. While that premise may sound easy, emotional depth is at the top of the list.

I became very attached to the characters and really cared about what happened to them. It is usually the books that stay with us the longest.

7. Yellowface

It’s easily one of the sharpest maximum concept horror novels I’ve explored in the entire 365 days.

The story follows a grieving writer who steals an unpublished manuscript from every other writer and claims it as his own.

What follows is a fascinating exploration of ambition, jealousy, fame, revelation, and the memories humans enlighten to justify terrible choices .

The narrative is so compelling that although the principle the man or woman chose was more and more terrifying, I decided I was not able to look away .

Final Verdict

Beautiful books don’t just entertain us — they take over our lives for a few days. They make us skip our study breaks, stay up way too late, and think of an idea about fictional characters as if they were real people.

These seven novels did just that for me this year.

Whether you’re in the mood for fascinating technical know-how, gripping psychological thrillers, epic fantasy adventures, or emotionally rich literary fiction, there’s something on this list that’s truly worth including in your reading pile.

Just don’t blame me even if you tell yourself you can read a chapter and finish half an e-book in one sitting.
