COD Canterbury at 10!

It is truly remarkable to look back and see how far we have come. From just a handful of dedicated ministers in a single room, City of David (COD) Canterbury has blossomed into arguably the largest and fastest-growing Christian congregation in Canterbury. We are a warm, bubbly bunch, and that spirit shines through in every one of our meetings.

Our Senior Pastor, Akin Kunlipe, recently sat down with ‘Salome’ of CitiNews, candidly sharing the journey. He revealed that shutting things down crossed their minds more than once, especially during the early years of slow growth and when the COVID-19 lockdowns cut short the first signs of expansion. Despite these challenges, Pastor Akin persevered with his team. He firmly believes the church’s role is to equip people to make a significant impact in the world, embodying COD’s motto of

“raising fruitful citizens of the kingdom of God.”

His powerful message for those feeling lost?

“Jesus is the answer.”

So, what is next for COD Canterbury? Pastor Akin shared that our assignment, as a parish of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), is to have a professing child of God in every home in Canterbury. He believes the time has come to truly embrace this monumental work, which begins with every member fully stepping into their identity as a child of God.
