Leading ASCE: A Current Journey of Growth
Being the President of the MBCET (Mar Baselios College of Engineering and Technology) ASCE (American Society of Civil Engineers) student chapter is an incredible journey that’s shaping my college experience in a big way. Right now, I’m in charge, and it’s not just a title — it’s a responsibility I’m taking on with excitement and dedication.
Every day, I’m focused on bringing our diverse group of civil engineering enthusiasts together. I want our chapter to be more than just a club; I’m turning it into a place where innovation, collaboration, and growth happen for every student passionate about civil engineering. This vision is what guides me in leading our chapter.
One of the challenges on my plate is organizing our activities. From workshops and seminars to community outreach programs, such as food drive, cloth donation, orphanage visits, we’re doing a lot. Each event isn’t just about learning — it’s about building a sense of community among us. It takes teamwork to make these ideas come to life, and that teamwork is strengthening the bonds within our chapter.
I’m putting a strong focus on helping everyone in our chapter grow professionally. We’re not just about what happens in the classroom; we’re creating opportunities beyond that to get ready for the real world. Industry talks, site visits, and skill development sessions are all part of the mix, making sure our theoretical knowledge is ready to be applied in real-life situations.
Representing our chapter at different forums and conferences is part of the deal. These experiences let me talk to leaders in the field, learn more, and bring back valuable insights to share with our members. It’s a two-way street — I’m growing personally, and our members are benefiting from what I bring back.
One of the best parts is seeing the impact of our community service initiatives. We’re using our engineering skills to tackle local challenges, whether it’s improving infrastructure in nearby communities or running workshops in schools. These experiences show the real-world difference our collective knowledge and commitment can make.
As my time as president continues, I’m proud of what we’re achieving. The challenges, the successes, and the personal growth — they’re all part of my college experience now. The connections I’m making, the skills I’m developing, and the memories we’re creating during this time will be something I carry with me as a testament to the power of leadership in a community of passionate individuals.
