This week — and much of this month — the weather has been rainy in my neck of the woods — or my neck of the 20th century housing estate where I am staying presently anyway.

Most days I’ve managed to take a neighbourhood walk. Yesterday I intended to push myself a little further than usual but with falling rain I decided to limit myself to going to the nearest shop for a few supplies. I was running out of Flora (a spread made partly made from buttermilk — I’m supposed to keep off butter because I’m prone to high blood pressure). My crutch nearly slipped when I went out of the front door but I managed to steady myself.

I walked part of the way through the nearest local park. Because of the overcast skies, the colours of the trees and plants in the park were very dark. That was somewhat disappointing. No inspiring views.

Finally I reached the shop. No Flora in sight. I asked one of the shop attendants if they had Flora in sight. No she said but pointed me in the direction of where the butter was sold. Luckily I located some Clover which is another brand similar to Flora.

Having picked up a tub of Clover and a few bits and bobs, I paid what I owed for the shopping and set off on my homeward journey. I walked through the park again. It’s a bit more interesting than walking along the street though I travelled along the street pavements for the last leg of the walk.

Once indoors I took off my damp waterproof and put on another pair of shoes. Time for a cup of tea, I thought. I was glad to calm down after braving the dreary and miserable weather.
