Why I’m Still Mad That Billy Hargrove was [REDACTED]

[SPOILERS FOR STRANGER THINGS SEASONS 3 & 4]

I’m not going to lie, I fell head-over-heels for Billy when he was introduced in Season 2. I knew that he was technically abusive and controlling but I had empathy for him. We later discovered in Season 2 that Billy is abused by his father. Does it justify his actions? Absolutely not but it provides context.

Not only did I fall for Billy but I fell for his actor, Dacre Montgomery, who is a brilliant and multi-talented man. I actually have a copy of his DKMH book. He’s such a sweetheart and is very inspiring.

Anyways, when we saw Billy killed off in Season 3— I took that shit personally.

I can’t lie. I can’t deny the hurt I felt. I was one of those people to make a petition for him to be brought back somehow. However, we got to see a cameo of Billy in Season 4 Volume One. He wasn’t alive but it was a vision brought on by Vecna. When I found out that Dacre remotely filmed these scenes in Australia, I was stunned and so surprised.

It also made me sad to see the photos/videos of him in his Billy fit for the last time. It hit me that Billy wasn’t coming back — at least, not alive. As I stated in the title, I’m still mad. There’s no denying that.
