I Stopped Filming Every Day, and My Channel Grew Faster

What happened when I built an AI twin and let it handle the content grind while I focused on creating.

I want to tell you about the Tuesday I sat down to film a video and just… didn’t.

I had the idea. I had the script. The ring light was on. I was dressed. And I sat there for forty minutes doing nothing, then closed the camera app and went and made coffee.

I told myself it was creative block. But if I’m honest, it wasn’t. It was the specific exhaustion of knowing that even if I filmed today, I’d need to do the exact same thing on Thursday. And Saturday. And the following Tuesday. Forever. With no finish line. Just the algorithm, waiting.

How I Actually Use It

Here’s my current workflow, which I’ve been running for about four months:

Every two weeks, I do one batch session. I sit down, not to film, but to write. Using Claude AI (the free plan works fine), I generate scripts for 10–12 pieces of content. This takes about 3 hours. The prompts I use are built specifically for avatar delivery: short sentences, no bullet points, natural spoken rhythm.

I then paste all the scripts into HeyGen in a single session. I select my avatar, set the background, and queue all the videos. While HeyGen renders them, which takes a few hours and requires zero active involvement from me, I do other things.

I schedule the output across two weeks. The videos go into Buffer or YouTube Studio, scheduled at my normal posting frequency. My audience sees consistent uploads. The algorithm sees consistent uploads. Neither knows that all of it was produced in an afternoon.

My real filming time is now reserved for content that actually requires my presence. The opinion pieces. The storytelling videos. The collabs. Content where my live energy and unscripted reactions are the product.

My output doubled. My filming time halved. The Tuesday paralysis stopped, because the pressure of “I have to film something today” stopped.

The Platform Expansion Nobody Has Time For

There’s a secondary benefit I didn’t fully anticipate: I’m now active on TikTok.

This works best for: talking-head style content, explainer videos, announcements, educational content, scripted opinion pieces, evergreen how-to videos.

It works less well for: spontaneous reactions, highly expressive physical content, anything where your real-time energy is the product, live streams, content that depends on genuine unscripted moments.

The quality requires effort to set up. Your training footage matters enormously. Record it in good lighting, with a clean background, looking directly at the camera, speaking naturally for 5+ minutes. The avatar is only as good as what you give it to learn from.

ElevenLabs voice cloning is genuinely remarkable. With 30+ minutes of clean training audio, the voice clone is close enough that I’ve had people watch my avatar videos without realising they weren’t watching real footage. With an hour or more of audio, it’s near-identical.
