Experiencing the Great Bonding Period with Mentors
As the acceptance letter for the GSoC 2023 program landed in my inbox, excitement surged through my veins. Little did I know that this journey would bring forth a remarkable bonding period with my mentors at the Orthogonal Research and Education Lab, Incf.

Before the official coding period commenced, I dedicated countless hours to understanding the project. Immersed in research, I delved into the depths of the proposed GSoC project, leaving no stone unturned. My mentors’ guidance became invaluable, as they provided me with comprehensive documentations and research papers to navigate through this uncharted territory.
One of the first tasks on my journey was to familiarize myself with GitHub. Through patient learning and exploration, I began to understand the ins and outs of this powerful collaborative platform. I absorbed the principles of successful contribution, immersing myself in the vast resources available on GitHub and devouring the knowledge shared in online forums.
I explained the idea of project VRDR (Virtual Reality for Distributed Research) in my previous blog:-
plus, I’ve given a

VRDR have three projects in it.
The first template involves replicating a famous experimental paradigm such as the Morris Water Maze,
In the upcoming week, I aim to focus on exploring techniques for making MWM with the help of unity, blender & start documenting/uploading development/progress of VRDR here in VRDR GitHub repo.

The second template proposes replicating scientific knowledge or biological processes in a unique way & openworm.

The third template involves visualizing Agent-based Models (ABM) using both a first-person and third-person perspective.

To bring these dreams to life, I delved into the technology stack: Blender, WebXR, NetLogo, Unity3D, ABMU and more. Equipped with these powerful tools, I could craft immersive environments that would captivate learners and researchers, breathing life into their studies and experiments.
The project’s vision of open-source XR applications, capable of running on various platforms, drives me forward. I yearn to incorporate haptic feedback and movement inputs, ensuring a truly immersive and interactive experience for learners and researchers worldwide.
Bonding Period has strengthened my resolve, deepened my understanding, and sparked my creativity. The path ahead may be challenging, but the rewards will be immense. Virtual and augmented reality, coupled with computational neuroscience, data science, and XR technologies, will unlock a world of possibilities, forever changing the way we perceive, learn, and research.

SHORT TIPS FOR ASPIRING GSOC CONTRIBUTORS
You'll find many bugs here not perfect out there, but it is something better than nothing & it works.
You can even check GITHUB repo & ask previous contributors/org mentors about tips and tricks or even ask them to review your proposal.
Communications with mentors and knowing how org work is the key for getting accepted in GSoC .

Join me on this exhilarating journey, where science, technology, and imagination intertwine, pushing the boundaries of human knowledge and understanding.
Let us embark together into the realm of virtual reality, where dreams become reality and discoveries await around every corner.
