June 27, 1976

Air France Flight 139 from Tel Aviv to Paris was hijacked by four members of the Palestinian militant groups.

June 28, 1976

After 24 hours, at 3:15pm the next day, the hijacked plane landed at Entebbe Airport in Uganda.

Hijackers asked for a ransom of US$5 million and the release of 53 Palestinian militants imprisoned in Israel by July 1.

If the demand was not satisfied, they would start killing the hostages.

July 4, 1976

The Israeli army launched Operation Entebbe, sent 100 commandos over 4,000 km to the airport in Uganda, killed all 7 hijackers, and freed 102 hostages.
