Bitcoin: I love it when a plan comes together
It began most unexpectedly.

It began most unexpectedly.
Debt, tens of thousands of (U.S.) dollars of it, had me looking for a (legal) way out.
I decided bankruptcy wasn't for me.
I wasn't a six-figure earner, and my debt-to-income ratio was too high to qualify for a loan.
That's when it happened.
Here is a recount of how it began.
My cryptocurrency journey began when I received a mailing list e-mail about the future of business. That single e-mail led to months of deep-diving research and an initial cash outlay to join a crypto community. My initial investment followed this in Bitcoin.
The Hobbit effect
I like calling my experience an unexpected journey because it fits how I have discovered some of the many components of cryptocurrency, more emails than I read. Since I do a lot of online research, my e-mail address has found its way onto many sites that are willing to sell me something. (Welcome to online marketing)
The Peter Jackson trilogy, The Hobbit, aptly illustrates an unexpected journey. Bilbo Baggins is a reluctant player in this quest to regain the Dwarves’ homeland. The offer to be the band's burglar intrigues him, but logic and a sedentary lifestyle block every attempt to say yes. Finally, throwing caution to the wind, Bilbo is out the door, running after the band of Dwarfs on this unexpected journey.
This defines the journey into the crypto space. It is intriguing but also excitingly scary. Many voices shout to stop, turn around, and run away, but that nagging feeling never disappears. After reading the e-mail transcript (there was a video, but I like to read), I became curious enough to do some initial research, which led to more research until I plunged down the rabbit hole.
This brief backstory is to let you know that, like you, I am intrigued by cryptocurrency’s potential. I am just beginning my journey, and maybe some of my experiences will serve as an answer for anyone with a similar mindset.
That was 2021.
Today, in 2026, I am debt-free with tens of thousands of (U.S.) dollars (in Bitcoin) in my (digital) wallet.
How did it happen?
It happened because I saw the value in something highly speculative.
It happened because I recognized the changing (financial) world we live in.
It happened because I was desperate for some way to make money that didn't require working 100 hours a week.
IT HAPPENED BECAUSE I TOOK A RISK.
I allowed all the doubt, insecurities, and fear to scream and shout why it could not/should not be done, then set them on the shelf.
I dug deep enough into cryptocurrency, three things.
-
It is legitimate
-
It has the potential to make money
-
It has the potential to become the future of global currency
I call my journey The Ledger of Us because I am not a Crypto-millionaire (I arrived too late for that). Still, I am a Crypto-enthusiast who believes (with the right Strategy) that everyday people can find financial freedom in the Cryptoverse.
I am proof that it's cryptocurrency money: my $40,000 credit card debt is long gone, and my $25,000 Bitcoin wallet has continued to grow (in just over 5 years).
I've said it is the future of global currency, and here is what the experts are saying.
"For the first time in modern history, there are two fundamentally different monetary systems operating at the same time.
One is institutional.
It is managed through central banks, governments, and financial intermediaries. It is flexible, adaptive, and responsive to political and economic pressures.
The other is rule-based.
It is governed by protocol, enforced through decentralized consensus, and constrained by fixed issuance. It does not adapt to political needs. It does not respond to economic shocks. It simply operates according to its design.
These systems do not cancel each other out.
They coexist."

"To investors,
I posted the following message on X two days ago: "Most of the crypto industry is dead and never coming back. Eventually, people will realize it."
The clearing out of bad companies is almost as important as the thriving of good companies in the business cycle. But crypto doesn't have this business cycle for two reasons: Cryptocurrencies rarely shut down, and 2) coins rarely go to zero."

"Spot Bitcoin ETFs closed April with their strongest monthly performance of 2026, drawing $2.44 billion in net inflows."

"The stablecoin market has quietly become one of the most significant stories in global finance. Total stablecoin market cap reached $321 billion, representing a 34% year-over-year increase from April 2025 and a staggering 50%+ surge from January 2025's $205 billion baseline. There are now over 232 million unique stablecoin holders globally, signaling that this is no longer a niche crypto product but a mainstream financial instrument."

The U.S. government is working on the Clarity Act. It is legislation seeking to establish clearer regulatory rules for digital assets.
The bill is being touted as a true compromise between the Cryptoverse and institutional banking.
Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong sees the bill as making financial systems faster and cheaper.
“It’s just going to make everything more efficient in the financial system," Armstrong said.
He pointed out the growing institutional interest in Crypto, as banks are increasingly integrating stablecoins and Crypto asset services into their customer base.
I believe in the Cryptoverse, and so should you.
How The Ledger of Us will unfold in 2026
The Ledger of Us will continue offering ideas and suggestions about Bitcoin and the Cryptoverse.
Periodically, I will produce a paper (for a fee) to help those who are seriously interested in achieving financial freedom.
Remember:
I am on the same journey I am writing about.
I am not a Crypto millionaire.
I have a plan, and I have seen it work when I stick to it.
I have experienced setbacks when I failed to follow it.
I believe Bitcoin can be a tool to help the Rest of us achieve financial freedom.
If that is of interest, come along.
If not, write your complaints, and I will respond.
Remember:
I am on the same journey I am writing about.
I am not a Crypto millionaire.
I have a plan, and I have seen it work when I stick to it.
I have experienced setbacks when I failed to follow it.
I believe Bitcoin can be a tool to help the Rest of us achieve financial freedom.
I am offering a sound Strategy that will help you. It isn't free, but it isn’t expensive. The reason is that The Ledger of Us is about helping everyday people find financial freedom in the Cryptoverse.
