3 Perfumes That Smell Expensive Under ₹1,000 - Tested by a Malayalam Perfume Reviewer
3 Perfumes That Smell Expensive Under ₹1,000 — Tested by a Malayalam Perfume Reviewer
No designer budget needed. Three Ajmal bottles from Dubai that punch far above their price.

Most people assume smelling expensive means spending ₹5,000 or more. It doesn’t. As a Malayalam perfume reviewer based in Kochi, I’ve tested over 1000 fragrances in Kerala’s heat — and three of the bottles I get complimented are all under ₹1,000, all from one International house: Ajmal.
How I judge a budget scent: does it smell richer than its price, and does it hold up through a real Indian day? No hype, just what I actually smelled on skin.

1. Ajmal Oud of Dubai — the one that fools people (₹899)
If you buy only one, buy this. To my nose it’s oud, chocolate and musk — rich, a little gourmand, and far smoother than ₹899 has any right to be. It’s not just me: Amazon India buyers consistently call it rich, expensive-smelling and long-lasting on skin and clothes, with a classy oud-amber warmth.
Lasts: all-day · Best for: evenings and confident daily wear; unisex.
2. Ajmal Ascend — the versatile all-rounder (₹599)
The cheapest of the three and the one I reach for most. To my nose Ascend is fresh and fruity — clean apple — genuinely versatile: it works at the gym, the office, or just a regular day out. Easy, unisex, never tries too hard.
Lasts: several hours · Best for: gym, work, daily wear.
3. Ajmal 4EVER — the one for the ladies (₹899)
For anyone who wants pretty and sweet. 4EVER is floral and berries with a caramel sweetness — soft, feminine and crowd-pleasing, and it feels genuinely premium for the price.
Lasts: long · Best for: the ladies; daily wear and occasions.
So which one?
My pick is Oud of Dubai — it’s the one that earns the “what are you wearing?” reaction. For pure value, Ascend at ₹599 is unbeatable for gym and daily; for a gift to the women in your life, 4EVER.
Where to buy (and avoid fakes)
All three are on Ajmal’s India site. If purchasing from somwhere else, please verify the seller before you buy — counterfeits exist for popular Middle-Eastern brands. Prices here are as of June 2026; check live before purchasing.
All opinions are personal. Your nose may smell differently.
