ChatGPT Writing Templates

This is more for me but if anyone reading this wants to use it and even make changes to it, be my guest. Keep in mind that I did not create these, they were created by ChatGPT at my request. All it’s purpose is for, is to give the writer a sort of guidance on what to write about.

TEMPLATE SET A: Robert Greene / Psychology / Strategy

This template is about models, tools, and limits, not opinions or summaries.

A1️⃣ Greene — Pre-Reading Template

Title:

Before Reading [Book Title] — Expectations & Questions

Structure:

  • Why I’m reading this book now
  • What I expect the book’s central argument to be
  • What I think the author believes about human nature
  • One concern or skepticism going in
  • One situation I hope this book helps me understand better

Why this works: You’re surfacing assumptions before Greene challenges or reinforces them.

A2️⃣ Greene — Session Log Template (Short)

Title:

Reading [Book Title] — Session X

Structure:

  • Chapters/pages read
  • One principle or pattern described
  • The situation where this might apply
  • Where this could fail or be misused
  • One question I’m left with

📌 Important Greene Rule: Every insight must include context or limitation. No exceptions.

A3️⃣ Greene — Post-Book Reflection Template

Title options:

  • What [Book Title] Is Really About
  • Thoughts After Reading [Book Title]
  • What I Took — and Didn’t Take — From [Book Title]

Structure:

  1. What problem this book is trying to solve
  2. The author’s underlying worldview
  3. 3 ideas that felt genuinely useful
  4. 2 ideas I’m skeptical of or cautious about
  5. How this book should (and shouldn’t) be used
  6. Who I think benefits most from this book

Why this matters: It signals maturity. You’re engaging, not absorbing.

TEMPLATE SET B: Fiction / Fantasy / Narrative Universes

This template focuses on experience, meaning, and memory, not extraction.

B1️⃣ Fiction — Pre-Reading Template

Title:

Before Reading [Book Title]

Structure:

  • What I know about this world so far (or don’t)
  • What I expect the tone to be
  • What kind of experience I’m hoping for
  • One thing I’m curious or cautious about

📌 Keep this loose and personal.

B2️⃣ Fiction — Session Log Template

Title:

Reading [Book Title] — Session X

Structure:

  • Where the story moved today
  • One moment or image that stuck
  • One character or relationship shift
  • How this made me feel
  • One question or anticipation going forward

📌 Emotion is data here — don’t suppress it.

B3️⃣ Fiction — Post-Book Reflection Template

Title options:

  • Thoughts After Finishing [Book Title]
  • Reading [Book Title] Slowly
  • What Stayed With Me After [Book Title]

Structure:

  1. What kind of story this turned out to be
  2. A character, theme, or image that defines it
  3. How it fits into the larger world/series
  4. What surprised or challenged me
  5. Who this book will resonate with
  6. Whether I want to continue the series — and why

Why this works: It mirrors how people actually talk about fiction.

The One Guiding Difference (Memorize This)

Greene = “How does this work, and when does it fail?” Fiction = “What did this feel like, and why does it matter?”

If you keep that distinction, your writing will:

  • Feel coherent
  • Avoid tonal whiplash
  • Build credibility with both audiences
