Getting a Gardyn?

You should know these things:

• One membership per Gardyn (if you want to use things like Kelby, vacation mode, or the “journal” camera timelapses).
• The credits from a membership are more than you’ll need. I plant maybe four y-cubes per month. Consider getting three months of membership, saving your y-cubes, and buying your own rock wool and seeds.
• You don’t want to use every slot on the Gardyn at once. Plants need space.
• The accessory bundle isn’t worth it. The trellis deal in particular means that you’ll either have an extra or be short one. And I don’t think microgreens are worth it. I mostly like the Gardyn nursery. Except the cover doesn’t consistently fit in the base so picking it up one handed is a great way to aggressively empty the nursery and throw water everywhere.
• Access to a 3d printer will save you money on things like y-pod covers.
• You can save at least half the seeds in each of the y-cubes you get.
• Plan for weekly tank refreshes for peak plant health.
• Check your pump for roots with each refresh.
• Top up your tank frequently (every other day) to keep nutrient levels high.
• Microgreens aren’t worth it. But they are fun and delicious.
• You can get the same nutrients (dirty) and ph balancer (“Hydroboost”) from Hydroponics Research for much, much cheaper.
• Hydroguard is amazing for root health.
• Fox Farm nutrients definitely provide more of a kick. Be careful greens.
• Expect that you’re probably going to want a second unit just for greens.
