You’ll cry if you find this out after visiting Musée d’Orsay -(1)
Tips
Don’t wait too long for the line. If you are going to the Musée de l’Orangerie as well, just go there first and buy tickets for both. And you can stand in line for people that have tickets. It is much cheaper that way and you don’t have to wait long. We are princess we don’t wait.
If you are under 26 and live in an EU country, bring your passport or residence permit to get in for free. (Almost every museum in Paris offers free admission this way.) I was an exchange student and went there for free.
best route: 5th floor(for photoes with the clock)-> 2th floor -> 0th floor
What you can see in Musée d me d’Orsay 5th floor
Claude Monet

Woman with a Parasol★/Le Bassin aux nymphéas
Both are famous, both were just ordinary Claude Monet pieces. pretty but not that tasty. I prefer ones in Orangerie.

The Pink Skiff
Vincent van Gogh
Dutch Post-Impressionist painter. One of the reasons why I love the Netherlands so much. Did you know that actually the story that he was so depressed that he cut his ears was not that trustworthy? The proof was the book that Gauguin wrote but some people says that Gauguin actually cut Gogh’s ear and lied to cover it up. Anyways,,

Portrait de l’artiste★/The Garden of Saint-Paul Hospital in Saint-Rémy
I always like Portrait of him. I don’t like others’ portraits cause they look too good in those and I hate people being fake. But his portraits have power and I feel like I am standing eye-to-eye just by looking at those. The one in Netherlands is was my favorite portrait but this one almost made me change my mind.
The Garden of Saint-Paul Hospital in Saint-Rémy is the one he drew while he was in the mental hospital.

Thatched Cottages at Cordeville/The Church at Auvers-sur-Oise★

La Chambre de Van Gogh à Arles★/Encampment of Gypsies with Caravans near Arles
I don’t like series of room and sunflowers of him. I kinda think they are overrated. The maximum time that I look at it will be 1min.

Portrait of Dr. Gachet★★/Imperial Fritillaries in a Copper Vase★
Portrait of Dr. Gachet was really good. He is the doctor in mental hospital and it is funny that he is very sad in the painting. He look like he has to be in the hospital in a different position. Flower painting is not famous but I liked it.

Self-Portrait/ Starry Night Over the Rhône★

La Méridienne/millet’s
He paid tribute to Jean-François Millet’s La Méridienne. You can see other famous Millet’s pieces in 0th floor.
Pierre-Auguste Renoir

Young Girls at the Piano/Maternity
I like Renoir, but after looking at the exibition about Renoir in Orsay, I realized he is not my favorite. Faces are so modern. People look like they are photoshoped. Too pretty for me.
Edgar Degas

Blue Dancers★/Little Dancer Aged Fourteen
famous. not much.
Other artists

Le Déjeuner sur l’herbe, The Luncheon on the Grass(Édouard Manet)★
The painting that made scandal of 1863. Manet shocked everyone by painting a fully nude woman sitting casually with fully clothed men outdoors — and staring straight at the viewer. It wasn’t a mythical goddess, just an ordinary contemporary woman, which made people lose their minds back then. It has strange atmosphere but I enjoyed it. By the way, there are paintings from both Manet and Monet in 5th floor. Be careful if you like just one of them.
