Maybe a Weird Flex, But You Never Know When These 5 Things Can Be Useful

You know those products that make you laugh the first time you see them?

The ones where you immediately think, “Who is buying this????”

And then life humbles you.

This is a collection of gadgets I either never knew existed, never thought I’d need, or openly laughed at before eventually admitting they were actually pretty useful.

So here’s your reminder that today’s weird gadget could be tomorrow’s hero. None of us are above these.

Let’s get to it. 😌

1. Mattress Lifter, Sheet Tucker & Bed-Making Tool

aka: my mattress and I are no longer enemies

A couple of years ago, I severely injured my right hand. For about six months it was completely useless, and even after recovery it’s still about 50% functional and 50% decorative.

Making the bed and changing sheets used to be nearly impossible. Now it’s just annoying.

This little thing slides under the mattress and gives you enough lift to tuck sheets in without fighting for your life.

Honestly, I could also see this being handy for people with arthritis, long pretty nails, grip issues, or anyone who just enjoys life hacks.

Bed-making still isn’t my favorite activity, but at least now my losing battle isn’t quite as dramatic. 🌚

2. Shoehorn

Maybe I’m late to the party, but I only recently learned about shoehorns and I am fully on board.

Our 90-year-old aunt lost hers and asked us to order a new one. When she said “shoehorn,” I was honestly a little confused.

The moment I figured out what it was, I ordered one for myself too. No regrets. 😏

This thing makes getting into my Dr. Martens and Uggs (ESPECIALLY THE DAMN UGGS) so much easier that I now wonder why I’ve spent my entire life aggressively wrestling my footwear.

Thanks, Auntie.

This one’s for you. 😂

3. (Super Cute) Rechargeable Hand Warmers

aka: emotional support pocket avocados

I LOVE these.

They’re rechargeable, adorable, and live in my bag full-time. They are also magnetic so they stick together when they’re not being used ❤

I used to hoard those little shakeable hand warmers every winter, and while I respect and honor my roots, these are a serious upgrade.

The battery life is decent, they charge quickly, and they’re one of those things you don’t think about until your hands are freezing and suddenly they’re the most important item you own.

Tiny warm hands = big happiness.

Heads up: people will probably ask questions, and after you explain what they are, the last question may or may not be, “Can I hold one?”

4. Acupuncture Tension Relief Trigger

aka: click click, BANG. now maybe my shoulder will chill out

Fun fact: I am a big fan of TENS units, EMS devices, and pretty much anything related to pain relief.

Sometimes, though, I don’t want to deal with wires, sticky pads, charging cables, batteries, apps, or whatever else modern technology wants from me that day.

That’s where this little gadget comes in.

I’ll be honest-it was slightly intimidating at first because it makes a surprisingly loud clicking noise. Okay, it’s not that loud, but the first few times I definitely flinched lol.

But there is definitely something to it.

It doesn’t magically erase all my aches and pains, but I do notice a difference when I use it on stubborn sore spots.

Side note because this seems important: the instructions say not to use it if you have a pacemaker or a bun in the oven. 🤰

5. Long Reach Wiper Aid

LISTEN, I laughed too.

But after a family member had back surgery and the alternative was one of us helping with bathroom duties, I became extremely grateful this showed up in an Amazon box on the porch.

It’s easy to joke about until you’re the one who suddenly can’t bend, twist, reach, or move the way you normally can.

Whether it’s surgery recovery, an injury, pregnancy, mobility limitations, or just a temporary situation, this is one of those products that’s incredibly useful when you need it.

Hopefully you never do.

But if you do, future-you might appreciate knowing it exists.

🤷 Final Thoughts

The older I get, the more I realize that some of the most useful products are the ones I initially laughed at.

Life has a funny way of introducing you to gadgets you never knew you needed.

So if any of these seemed oddly specific, unnecessarily niche, or mildly ridiculous…

Keep them in mind because you never know what the future holds, and we all get old should we be so blessed. 🙏

I stumbled. I scored. And apparently I have become the person who recommends shoehorns on the internet.

Until next time ❤
