Chapter 4: Got a Crayon?

At dawn, Mike awoke to Mirri calling from the living room table. He slid out from under his sheets clad only in a pair of fitted boxers. He left his bedroom to answer. “What is it Mirri?” Mike asked with a yawn as he moved to the fridge behind the bar in the kitchen portion of his dwelling. “Sir. While you slept, a prison break was conducted by our adversaries.” Mirri reported. “Dead?” Mike asked as he made his way over to the table “None sir.” Mirri replied. “Escaped?” Mike swiped through the prison’s security footage. “Former Mayor Irene Clodfelter.” Mirri said. Mike wasn’t fully awake until he heard the name of the former mayor. “How?” He asked “Evidence suggests Knockout gas and sleep darts. However the evidence is insufficient to prove the events.” “Again?!” Mike beat the screen. “Seems so sir.” Mirri replied in her emotionless voice. “Once again WE know how this happened but we can’t prove it. Unless, any darts recovered?” Mike asked as he moved to his kitchenette. “No sir. But Shade did recover a notecard.” Mirri reported as Mike scanned his fridge. “Picture?” He asked. “Here Sir.” An image of notecard with a group of dots drawn upon it appeared on the table. Mike cracked a can of energy drink as he strode over. “Any ideas Mirri?” he asked her. “Got a crayon?” Mirri replied dryly. “Very funny. I am going to get dressed, save that image, I’ll study it more later.” Mike said as he lifted the can to his mouth.
