Fourteen years ago, a few engineers walked into a Boozt meeting room. They had an idea of sharing knowledge, discuss tech, and connect as a team.

The outcome was the Boozt Platform Conference and it has grown into a cornerstone event for the culture of the technology department as Boozt that is called “Platform”. The 14th edition of the Platform Confernce once again proved to be an annual celebration of innovation, learning, and the power of collaboration.

My name is Łukasz Pawłowski and I am a Tech Manager at Boozt. For the last four years, I have been privileged to co-organise the Boozt Platform Conference and each year we grow and improve. This year we had around 180 attendees across Aarhus, Malmö (with the Copenhagen team joining), Poznań, and Vilnius, and many more joining via stream. Not only developers, the talks were put into the Boozt calendar and all employees of the company was invited to attend talks of their interest.

The 14th Platform Conference took place in a time of global and industry-wide uncertainty. With budget pressures, shifting priorities, and lower motivation across the tech world, organising this conference wasn’t easy. But we made it happen — together as it’s a Platform event — owned by the team, prepared by the team, for the team.

Below is a recap of the event as well as reactions from participants.

Day 1: The Age of AI and Proactive Engineering

Our CTO and co-founder, Jesper Brøndum, opened with a powerful message: constraint fuels creativity. He shared stories of bold innovation in crisis, from the Wright brothers to modern tech giants like Google and Airbnb, reminding us that the companies that shape the future are those that take initiative, even in tough times.

His keynote wasn’t just a call for innovation — it was a challenge to engineers: stop waiting to be told what to do. Share your ideas. Prototype. Push forward. Reframe your role from passive executor to active innovator.

Jacob Ramlov Jensen from Go Autonomous expanded on this idea, showing how generative AI can accelerate software development. AI is not here to replace engineers but to enhance their capabilities. He presented how to work smarter, not harder. With AI and fast prototyping, we can achieve higher democratization of technology and efficiency in solving business problems.

Louis Boucherie from Danmarks Statistik followed with a fascinating dive into how AI and computer vision are decoding decades of fashion trends. His team analyzes garment evolution using image embeddings, LAB color clustering, and vision-language models. His talk was more technical and presented not only results, but also how to get to them. Some internal teams have already caught on to some ideas and are looking into how to use specific solutions in our systems.

Then came HackerOne, which presented the current state of cybersecurity in retail and e-commerce. They focused on common vulnerabilities and how Boozt fits in that landscape with our bug bounty program. With vulnerability trends like IDOR and XSS still common, and AI expanding both attack surfaces and defenses, the message was clear: security is evolving fast, and e-commerce/retail is in the middle of it all.

Google’s Topi Manu gets on stage with multiple demos. He presented the Agentspace platform and Gemini-based tools, showcasing how AI can assist with code generation, PoCs, and multimodal processing. As we are using GCP and other Google solutions, it was a good intro for AI tools that they provide.

The day ended with an internal discussion panel on AI, hosted by Tobias Sjölin from Boozt.

Day 2: Collaboration and the Human Factor

The second day opened with three external talks that focused more on the human factor. Frank Madsen from Boozt dove into customer experience from the perspective of building a strategy and process around that. He also presented the direction in which we are going at Boozt.

Vikas Joshi (VWO) continued that thread with practical personalization tips for e-commerce. Kuba Zwolinski from Snowdog gave the last talk. Using adventure racing as an example, he spoke about trust, cooperation, and communication. He reminded us that the strength of a team isn’t measured by its strongest/weakest member, but by how well the team supports its weakest. Strong collaboration, trust, and open communication are not just helpful in times of uncertainty — they’re essential.

After lunch, we split into three tracks of internal talks, showcasing the breadth and depth of expertise within the Boozt Platform department:

  • Engineering excellence: talks on resilient systems, code sharing, backend with Golang, and React server components.
  • Data and automation: sessions on MySQL, data hygiene, AI vulnerabilities, and data-driven personalization.
  • Human insight: presentations on developer experience, team growth, and motivation.

Looking Ahead: Innovation, with a Cool Head

What did we learn this year?

  1. Innovation and proactivity are essential. It starts with each of us. Engineers need to own the future by sharing ideas early and often. They need not only to provide what they are asked for, but also to build the future using innovation.
  2. AI is an important tool, but it must be used with a cool head. We should use it to move faster and test ideas. But always apply human judgment; do not trust it blindly. AI is not here to replace us, but to enhance our capabilities. AI is a great tool for improving our innovation.
  3. Teamwork matters more than ever. Cooperation, communication, and support are the foundation of everything else. Anything we build is for humans and created by humans. AI requires direction and will not replace human cooperation. Innovation can’t happen without a shared team’s execution of ideas.

The 14th Boozt Platform Conference wasn’t just another event — it was a statement. Even when times are tough, we show up. We build. We share. We grow. Together. As the event ended, we’re already brainstorming ideas for next year: more interactive formats like AMAs and workshops, a wider thematic scope, and a renewed focus on making the event even more engaging. Let’s see if we can grow to the challenge with the next 15th Boozt Platform Conference.

Reactions from participants

Jonny Johansson, Data Systems Director at Boozt

The Boozt Platform Conference stands out as one of the most inspiring moments of the year. It’s a dedicated two-day event where we step away from our regular routines to dive into thought-provoking presentations from both internal and external speakers. Beyond the talks, it’s a chance to connect with colleagues, exchange ideas, and recharge with fresh perspectives that fuel our work moving forward.

Looking back at the 2025 Platform Conference, what stood out most for me was the focus on AI. I found it especially fascinating to see how AI was applied across different domains, with one standout session showcasing how AI tools analysed trends in High Fashion over the years. The way the technology grouped and visualised the data brought a creative and unexpected lens to the topic and opening my eyes to how AI can uncover patterns in entirely new ways.

When I think about how to describe the Platform Conference to someone outside Boozt, I’d say it’s a rare and valuable opportunity for our developer community to come together. It’s not just about learning new things. It’s about stepping back from day-to-day work to share knowledge, connect across teams, and be inspired. The atmosphere is both energizing and collaborative, making it a true cornerstone of our culture.

Nadia Matiichenko, Senior Product Manager at Boozt

The Boozt Platform Conference is a chance to step into a different setting, reconnect with colleagues, and have those deeper, more thoughtful conversations we often don’t make time for. I really enjoy the energy that comes from discussing the talks. Sharing impressions, bouncing around ideas, and hearing different perspectives. It’s also an opportunity to lift my head from my own tasks and take in what others are doing, both within Boozt and beyond. Seeing how other companies tackle similar challenges is inspiring and often sparks ideas for future collaboration or new ways of working.

Looking back at Platform Conference 2025, the AI theme was front and center. Unsurprising, but incredibly relevant. What made it special was the practical angle: exploring how AI can actually help simplify our day-to-day work and make us more efficient. One session that really stayed with me focused on using AI to predict fashion trends. It was part of a large research project, and what struck me was how it turned everyday observations — like how fashion repeats itself or how your grandma’s dress becomes trendy again — into insights backed by data. It connected the personal with the professional in a really engaging way.

And while the external speakers brought fantastic insights, I was especially moved by the talks from our own colleagues. Seeing people who don’t usually present get up there and share their work was incredibly motivating. It added a down-to-earth, relatable touch to the whole event and made it feel even more genuine.

Platform Conference is two days of inspiring talks, relaxed conversations, and time spent with people I don’t always get to work closely with. There’s something special about stepping away from the usual routine, learning something new, and simply being in a space where ideas flow freely. It’s fun, it’s energising, and it’s something I genuinely look forward to every year.
