India is a land of gurus, seers, saints, mystics, and spiritual awareness. Since time immemorial, India has been shedding light on humanism and guiding humans to meet their material and spiritual ends. Even today saints and mystics in India are working for the well-being and spiritual growth of humanism.
Many saints after departing for their heavenly abode still guide their disciples. Neem Karoli Baba is one of the reverend saints who is still guiding the disciples and followers seeking his guidance. It is believed that mystic saint Neem Karoli Baba was the incarnation of the Hindu God Lord Hanuman.
His Principal Teaching
#1. Love and Compassion:
Baba’s teaching expressed the importance of universal love and treating others with empathy, kindness, and understanding.
#2. Seva(service):
He advocates for the selfless service that Gita says is Niskama Karma, the service without anticipating any return.
#3 Mindfulness:
He emphasized meditation and the development of present-moment awareness to connect with one’s true self.
His teaching guided tech giants like Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg, and Jack Dorsey to transform their lives.
His Notable Followers
In April 1974, Steve Jobs and his friend Dan Kottke visited Neem Karoli Baba’s Ashram in Kainchi, Uttarakhand during a time of personal and professional confusion and challenges of Steve Jobs. Baba had left his mortal body by the time they arrived in the ashram. They spent time in the ashram and interacted with Baba’s disciples (Baba departed on 11th September 1973) and Steve Jobs found peace and direction to develop Apple’s design philosophy.
He later explained his visit experience
“It was an experience that shaped my view of simplicity and focus. It helped me understand the importance of clarity in my vision.’’
Being advised and inspired by Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg visited Baba’s Ashram in 2015. Before his visit, he was confused about the mounting pressure of Facebook’s expansion and he was not getting any clear direction about it. He visited the ashram in search of peace, direction, and perspective on life.
He shared his experience in 2015

Jack Dorsey, co-founder of Twitter and Square is deeply influenced by the teaching of Baba. It is not clear whether he has visited Neem Karoli Baba’s Ashram, or not but Baba’s teaching of mindfulness and meditation shaped Dorsey’s leadership style.
The co-founder of eBay Jeffrey Skoll gives credit to Baba’s teaching for finding direction and inner peace in life.
Baba’s name, fame, and miracles not only influenced his millions of devotees in India but across the globe, transcending India’s physical boundaries. Not only tech giants find peace and guidance in Neem Karoli Baba but also the people across the different professions and ideologies.
Larry Brilliant, a humanitarian and epidemiologist along with his wife Girija found spiritual guidance in Neem Karoli Baba during their visit to India. Baba’s teaching of compassion and selfless service profoundly influenced their further life path.
Danial Goldman the celebrated author of “Emotional Intelligence(1995)”, visited Baba in 1970 and was profoundly influenced by the teaching of mindfulness and compassion.
Baba’s notable disciples include Ram Dass, an influential spiritual teacher and author of “Miracle of Love”, who shared the love and devotion of his guru and presented to the West.
Bhagavan Das a singer and spiritual teacher was instrumental in popularizing the wisdom of Baba in the West. Krishna Das a famous kirtan singer found his spiritual enlightenment in 1970 under Baba’s guidance.
Dada Mukerjee, an Indian writer and economics professor at Allahabad University hosted his guru at his home during winters from 1958 until Mahasamadhi in 1973.
Another prominent Indian is Rahul Verma, a devotee of Baba founded the “NKB Divine Meditation Foundation” and offers free guided meditation based on Baba’s teaching for inner peace and holistic development of the people.
Ma Jaya Sati Bhagavati, spiritual teacher (founded of Kashi ashram in Florida), Virat Kohli, the celebrated Indian cricketer, who admitted the influence of Baba’s Ashram on his career prospects, Anushka Sharma, Bollywood actress, and Jai Uttal, notable musician, and spiritual artist are profoundly influenced by Baba’s teaching.
Julia Roberts the celebrated actress of Hollywood was inspired by Baba and converted to Hinduism.
Neem Karoli Baba’s Ashram is a place of spiritual pilgrimage. Thousands of devotees are visiting the Ashram daily and getting Baba’s blessing and inner peace. It is believed that Baba is omnipresent in the Ashram and blesses the followers with a lasting smile.
