WHAT IS LINUX ?

Linux is a free, open-source operating system kernel that handles the resources of the computer. It is commonly used as a part to complete an operating system, which is referred to as a Linux distribution.

Linux operating systems are famous for their efficiency, high level of security, and adaptability, and are used in desktop, server, mobile, and embedded systems.

Linux Distributions

Linux distributions (distros) are complete operating systems built using the Linux kernel, along with additional software that makes the system usable.

In simple terms: A Linux distro = Linux kernel + system tools + package manager + optional desktop environment + applications

Each distro is designed with a specific purpose in mind, such as ease of use, stability, performance, or customization.

Ubuntu: Easy to use and Beginner friendly

Debian: Stable and More reliable

Fedora: Modern and Developer focused

Arch Linux: Minimal and Highly Customizable

Linux Mint: Simple and Comfortable for daily use

All Linux distros use the same kernel, but differ in how the System looks, behaves and is managed.
