So, a couple of weeks ago today, I had a very intense and life-threatening experience trying to extricate our truck and ourselves in cold weather at the Motel 6 in Erie, Pennsylvania. I wrote about it in a story published the next day. I wanted it to stay fresh in my mind all of the events that had occurred that day and even though I wasn’t feeling well after the experience, I felt that my heart and my mind needed to express the emotions and the events of that day.

It was definitely a long read. It was a full 14 minutes. The read ratio on the story isn’t high but it’s definitely worth the payoff to see how it ends up.
**Harold Zeitung was a real warrior there and read through the whole thing even though he probably wouldn’t normally read a story that long.**
By the way, check out his new publication that I’m proud to be a part of.

In the story that I had written that day linked above, I had written a Google review. This Google review was still under the maximum 4,000 characters allowed for a single review. I hadn’t disparaged the owner of the property himself.
I even praised the various employees who deserved praise and made sure to let people know that the state of the motel is only in its current condition because of management. I know that a business is not legally allowed to censor reviews. I did find out, however, that Google can filter reviews at their discretion. I didn’t know that, did you?
I changed my review multiple times to filter out the names of all the people involved. I even took the owner’s name out of the review thinking that might be the problem as to why they didn’t accept it. It’s not publicly advertised that he owns the property. He has a general manager who is basically the contact, the judge, jury, and…you get it, who makes all of the day-to-day property decisions.
The problem is that he is the problem.
He is the reason this property is in the state it’s in now. He’s about to lose two quality front desk employees because of his recent actions and hot temper and even hotter lies.
Google must be getting paid some sort of money from the business itself to soften some of the worst and most honest reviews of the property that would rightfully keep people away from it, especially away from their head narcissist, I mean general manager.
The place is full of drug dealers, drug addicts, liars, narcissists, and hookers. The property is largely neglected and not properly maintained. If someone passing through town just looked carefully enough, they would never enter the property.
Google would have no advantage to allow these honest reviews, which I’m sure of that there are way more. Google would essentially be the tool and the reason this company would be exposed and would force it to sell or close completely. Businesses pay for Google to list them and I know that it’s not a benefit for Google to allow a business to go viral for the wrong publicity, even for the right reasons.
I’ve softened my critique of everyone involved every time I’ve resubmitted and no one outside of myself can see any of the words. Google keeps telling me that my review was posted. I had a few of my friends and my partner check Google to see if it showed up. It never did. After my last edit, I waited a few days. It never posted. I knew they didn’t want me to get these words out. I deleted it and decided to find other ways to get the truth out.
One more shoutout and thanks to a fellow Medium writer, Harold Zeitung.
He advised me that I should file a rightful complaint to the ADA for what the motel put two disabled people through. We basically nearly died. It was all their fault. I submitted the online form today. I will hear back in the next couple of weeks. If Google doesn’t want to advertise the honesty here, certainly a call from the Department of Justice will wake up the property and its owner.
Google and Motel 6, your move…
