Sept 2023 : a new Aesop Rock album and ios17 apple journal .

As a part of my 10k walk, I sit here by this body of water most mornings and reflect. This week I heard the pre-release track of Aesop Rock‘s new album that will be released on the 10th of November. It’s really really really good and if you’ve not heard it yet (and you’re a fan of his back catalog) you should. Secondly, I’ve begun to reflect on how the imminent release of iOS 17 (which I’ve been running as a beta for sometime now) means the imminent release of the Apple journal app . I can’t think of an app release (first party Apple or otherwise ) I’ve been as excited about in ages. Like a lot of people here on Medium. I’ve used Day One for journaling for a long long time. I’ve also used Apple notes and dabbled with notion and capacities and other journaling and pkm apps. To me Apple journal seems like perhaps it could be a perfect distillation of all of these other options (at least for me) . we shall see of course , the reason it may be perfect for me is my use case. I like to journal about the music I listen to , the places I went , the cycling and walking and hiking activity I’ve done during that day. As a diabetic also adding what I’ve eaten And how I felt in terms my health and well-being and also be able to add in easily and simply the communications I’ve had that day – the text messages – the calls etc – The people I’ve interacted with . these are the kind of things I journal about.
