About 3 years ago, a very good friend gave me a gift. A massage gun. With 4 replaceable heads. I charged it, started using it, and it has been such a help to my sore muscles. It has served me well.

A few days ago, someone dear to me needed a massage gun. So, I decided to check the brand and model of my tried-and-tested one. I found the old manual in the case. And you will not believe what I found written there. My massage gun was not just a massage gun. It also works as a power bank. 5000mAh.

All these years… I never knew. There was even a time I was stranded. No power banks. Stressed.

I ended up buying a power bank. And the whole time, I had one at home. I just didn’t know to look.

And as I sat there, God nudged me: “Layo, this is exactly how we treat things in the Spirit.”

Have we:

• Carried gifts God gave us years ago and never used them?
• Had access to promises in the Bible but never tapped into them?
• Been praying for help, while the answer was sitting in the case?
• Been using only 1 “head” of our gift, when God gave us 4?

What we are not aware of cannot bless us. And what we don’t use, we cannot develop or grow in.

Just like that power bank feature.

The Manual

We only found it because we opened the manual. Psalm 119:105 — Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path

The Word is God’s manual for our lives. It shows us everything we need for this journey.

The gifts, the promises, the wisdom, the strength… It’s all there. If only we will tap into it.

2 Peter 1:3 — His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness_

Nothing is missing. We just need to read and believe.

The Gift

2 Timothy 1:6 — Fan into flame the gift of God

God doesn’t give gifts to sit in the case. He gives them to be used. Ephesians 2:10 — We are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance_

Maybe we don’t need a new gift from God. Maybe He’s just asking us to read the manual for the one we already have.

My dear brothers and sisters, let’s not walk past what God has already placed in us. Let’s not let fear, busyness, or ignorance keep us from opening the manual. Let’s not let gifts sit in the case while we pray for new ones. What we don’t use, we cannot develop or grow in. So, let’s fan into flame what’s in us.

Prayer: Father, forgive us for walking past what You’ve already given. Open our eyes to see. Open Your Word to speak. Show us the hidden features, the buried talents, the promises we’ve ignored. Teach us to fan into flame what You’ve placed in us. Let nothing in us go to waste. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
