The Ideal Life
An Original Poem

“Home” by Yaguis Imareal
I cannot go home.
Not tonight again.
Where I will feel the fear of them.
Soon all would rot away.
I hoped they’d forget who I was.
They did not.
Hated, disgraced.
Give them a smile.
I cannot go home.
Not tonight again.
The eyes will bear down on me.
Screams shrill in my ears.
I will be in my bedroom alone.
They get mad.
Ruined, forgotten.
It’s all okay despite.
I cannot go home.
Not tonight again.
With tortured souls who listen.
No escape from whispers.
I am but a mosquito in the window.
They kill me.
Ugly, disgusting.
Breathe on for now.
I cannot go home.
Not tonight again.
Just let me stay asleep for now.
Not back into their world.
I can barely breathe through my head.
They made us.
Boiled, destructive.
They wasted the tears.
I cannot go home.
Not tonight again.
Justified to abandon my hope.
Torn my shreds apart again.
I blame them for everything I lost.
They did this.
Tired, restricted.
We grieve the final loss.
I cannot go home.
Not tonight again.
Phased away the last of love.
Open wound of emotions.
I wait so kindly just to fade away.
They wish so.
Yearning, broken.
Never more to remember.
I cannot go home.
Not tonight again.
Believe this was not your cause.
Or fault of one like you.
I smile tonight with my joy unbound.
They loved me.
Ready, completed.
The day of rest is upon us.
I cannot go home.
Not tonight again.
Goodbye to the moon and stars.
We left for that very sake.
I pray you’ll live in my peace forever.
They try it.
Vivid, thriving.
Never like me, alive.
End.
