Human Savagery
Photo by Rob Griffin on Unsplash
I walked into the subway train car And sat down
There he was Across from me
Looking at me Straight in the eyes
Out of repulsion I almost lowered my eyes
But there he was Across from me
I just could not add Another insult
To his already disfigured Face
I composed myself And remained calm
Because There he was Across from me
Still not lowering His gaze
Burned and mutilated By flames
That man’s face looked like anything But a human’s face
Darkened by fire And stripped of its human components
That man’s face Was the antithesis of a beautiful face
Set on fire By another human he said
The ugliness and repulsion Of that man’s face
Was the symbol Of some of the worst things Done by humans on other humans
