The Amazing Spider-Man (1962–1966):

This is the OG Stan Lee (hey, that rhymes! Yay!) Spider-Man comic. The original illustrator of the actual Spider-Man was the talented Steve Ditko, with Spider-Man’s suit having a darker shade of blue, and gliders under his arms. But in the year 1966, John Romita reimagined it as the basic Spider-Man we all know today.

Symbiote Spider-Man (1984):

In 1984, Stan Lee created the black Symbiote version of Spider-Man. His appearance was like the famous Venom (which was released in 1988). In 1988, Stan Lee created a story in Spider-Man’s 252nd comic book, about an alien species called Symbiote that came from outer-space. The alien (named Venom by Spider-Man and fans) effects Peter Parker’s life, and creates a dramatic romance crisis I’d rather not get into. Peter is no longer the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man — he’s a straight-up jerk to everyone, and doesn’t realize it until it’s too late. He tears off the suit that Venom transformed into, and he’s back to his normal life. Until his enemy at The Daily Bugle, Eddie Brock, is Venom’s second victim. He and Sandman join forces to defeat Spider-Man, and in the end, Spider-Man traditionally wins the fight.

Scarlet Spider (1994):

Miles Warren is a “mad scientist” as you’d call him. He’s also named the Jackal, and is specially the creator of the Scarlet Spider, Ben Riley. Ben is a clone of Spider-Man, the Jackal’s nemesis. Why would a villain want to make a copy of his enemy? To use against him, that’s why. It would:

a) Question Peter Parker (“Am I the real Peter Parker, or merely a clone?”)

b) To take revenge on Spider-Man (Miles Warren wanted to kill Peter for supposedly murdering Warren’s favorite, unhealthily obsessive student, Gwen Stacy)

But Ben and Peter meet, and he decides that killing Spider-Man is wrong, so he becomes a hero: The Scarlet Spider.

Iron Spider:

This new suit of Peter Parker’s was fashioned, designed, and created by Tony Stark (Iron Man). Depending on the version of the suit, it has three or four golden spider arms on the suit’s back, sometimes called waldoes. This Spider-Man battled Captain America (in the Civil War), The Titanium Man, The Thunderbolts, and The Sinister Six.

In some Spider-Man versions, Iron Spider looks like this:

Spider-Man 2099:

Miguel O’Hara is the deep, dramatic, future version of Peter Parker.

He comes from Nueva York in the year 2099, in a future world where giant companies have enormous power. His main company connection is Alchemax, a powerful corporation tied to his origin.

Miguel is a brilliant geneticist. Unlike Peter Parker, he is not bitten by a radioactive spider. Instead, his powers come from a dangerous genetic experiment. His DNA gets partly rewritten with spider DNA, which turns him into Spider-Man 2099.

Unlike Peter Parker’s friendly, jokey personality — and spider-powers — Miguel O’Hara’s traits are very different:

Peter Parker: Present-day New York––––Miguel O’Hara: Future Nueva York

Peter Parker: Bitten by a spider––––Miguell O’Hara: Changed by genetic science

Peter Parker: Shoots web-fluid with web-shooters––Miguel O’Hara: Has organic webbing

Spider-Man Noir:

Spider-Man Noir, often referred to as “Spider-Noir,” is Peter Parker of Earth 90214. Once again, he is bitten by a radioactive spider, but his suit is very different than the classic Spider-Man costume: black and white, with an old-fashioned top hat, and a “noir-style” vibe.

His enemies are: Norman Osborne/The Goblin, The Vulture, Kraven, Chameleon, and The Enforcers.

His missions are:

1. Find out who is controlling New York’s crime He investigates gangs, corrupt leaders, and secret deals.
2. Stop the Goblin’s criminal empire Norman Osborn is not just one villain here. He has a whole network of criminals working for him.
3. Protect people who are being crushed by the system His Aunt May runs a shelter, and Peter cares about poor and struggling people in Great Depression-era New York. Marvel describes Peter helping at Aunt May’s shelter before becoming Spider-Man Noir.
4. Solve mysteries like a detective He follows clues, listens to reporters, sneaks into dangerous places, and uncovers hidden crimes.
5. Fight alongside other Spider-people In Spider-Verse stories, Spider-Noir joins other Spider heroes to face bigger multiverse threats.

Miles Morales:

Miles Morales came to be because Marvel wanted a new Spider-Man for a different universe.

In the comics, Miles first appeared in 2011 in Ultimate Fallout #4. He lives in the Ultimate Universe, also called Earth-1610, which is separate from the main Peter Parker universe.

Miles is bitten by a genetically-changed spider from Oscorp. That spider gives him powers kind of like Peter Parker’s, but with a few extra abilities:

• Wall-crawling

Miles and Peter both have the ability to climb on walls or ceilings.

• Spider-sense

Miles and Peter can predict when an attack will occur, around 2 seconds before the scene.

• Super strength and agility

This every-superhero power increases both Spider-Men’s strength, agility, speed, and flexibility.*

• Camouflage

Only Miles Morales can turn invisible as a stealth addition

• Venom strike

Miles has the ability to shock enemies with bio-electric energy

Miles wields 2 additional powers: Camouflage and venom strike. These are extremely helpful when it comes to infiltration.

Spider-Man (original movie version):

I hate saying this is the normal Spider-Man type, because it’s not! It’s from a movie, but what else to call it?

This film — literally called Spider-Man — was released on May 3, 2002. It was phenomenal. Peter Parker was acted by Tobey Maquire, which in my opinion, looks the most like Peter, but is the least like him. This costume inspired the next series of Spider-Man movie collections, The Amazing Spider-Man, released July 3, 2012. This Peter was acted by Andrew Garfield, who had a better sense of humor than Maquire, but looked the least like Peter from the Marvel comics. The third series? Well, the third was literally the Spider-Man: Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home. In the year 2026, we all wish for a great fourth movie in the collection: Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Anyways, the original Spider-Man movie didn’t have much humor compared to the other movies, and was much darker. However, it was not as horrifying as The Amazing Spider-Man. Lizard boy is just straight freaky.

The original movie had the villain Green Goblin, or Norman Osborne, played by Willem Dafoe. In the movie, Osborne experiments a gas that in theory, would make him stronger, in desperate hopes that this would save his company’s military contract.

The formula enhances his strength, but it also damages his mind — creating this new insanity-filled personality.

This classic villain introduces Peter Parker to this brand new, adventurous, heartbreaking, action-filled, suspenseful, superhero life.
