No good deed goes unpunished…

Campaign Turn 2 on Five Parsecs from Home

The group — minus the Priestess spending a night in the very frugal medbay of the Yesteryear — set out for some light trading and exploring. Not really having much to barter with except what they dug from the corpses of the scavengers, Sarge still manages to get his hands on some much-needed spare parts for the ship. Meanwhile, P-37e is successful in locating medical supplies in order to more effectively treat the stalker woman. The young girl Annie and the mercenary Pollux, however, fail to discover much of anything, mostly spending their time chatting with locals and making a few inquiries. It is the feral Worgen who returns with news from the bulletin board at the arrival hall of the spaceport, having secured a number of job offers. As the group settles into a tucked-away little street food stall, they spot the familiar figures of the Fazon assassins closing in on them!

Luckily, only a small group of the assassins are present, with a lizard-like creature bringing up the rear. A quizzical look towards Worgen is met with a snarl and the curt comment that Hydraxian blackscales are not related to ferals at all and are, in fact, a pest that should be shot on sight. With this being as good a motto as any to make their getaway, the group finds advantageous positions just as the first of the assassins spots them. The lucky murderer is quickly rewarded for his visual acuity with a bullet from Annie who hits him center mass, dropping him like a stone. The blackscale hisses and darts forward, evading the oncoming fire by P-37e and Pollux. Sarge and Worgen focus on the suspiciously well-armed rearguard of their harriers, managing to take out a plasma-gunner and the presumed leader of the group. Looking sheepish but standing their ground, the remaining two assassins and their pet lizard press forward but fail to secure good firing positions. Annie lines up shot after shot but can’t seem to drop more targets. However, as the lizard leaps from cover it is perforated mid-air by a volley from Pollux’s machine gun. Momentarily stunned after the gruesome display, the last two assassins are killed by Sarge and P-37e. With sirens approaching quickly, the group makes their escape, leaving most of the assassins’ equipment where it dropped.

Back at the ship, the Priestess has recovered well enough to remark upon the strangely organic mind of the ship’s bot. It turns out that P-37e is a soulless, not a mere droid. It shrugs it off, remarking that it never claimed to be either and simply opted not to correct a wrong assumption. Quickly changing the apparently rather uninteresting subject, P-37e informs the group that in order to make any meaningful space travel possible, they need to secure up-to-date navigational data. Since the Yesteryear hasn’t been operational for more than a decade, although its hull and drive are quite intact, the navigational computer is hopelessly outdated. There is a wreck of a recent ship crash fairly closely situated, but outside the city in Hulker territory. The gangs are fiercely territorial and mindlessly aggressive, making the task a dangerous undertaking.
