A Slow, Calculated, But Effective Invasion Of Germany By China That Is Probably Matched By What Happens In The Rest Of The World.

Red China’s slow growth in European affairs.

I lived in Germany for a few years. I saw some interesting things while I was there. And a few disturbing things.

I was living in a small town outside of Munich called Pullach. This was at the time the Berlin Wall was falling and there were great changes going on in the country. Unfortunately I didn’t have the finances to go up north and see it with my own eyes, but it was great to see how excited the whole country was to being reunited.

Pullach was a unique town on a plateau above the Isar River, a major river in southern Germany. It was a beautiful place and also a wealthy one. Most houses in the section where I was had high walls around them for the utmost in privacy.

In the town on the cliffs overlooking the river was an old classic castle that now housed a youth hostel. One day getting off the train from town I had a young Asian couple ask me directions to it. They fortunately asked me in English which was good because at that time I had only the slightest grasp of German. I started to give directions, but the way there was difficult so I offered just to take them there. I assumed they were Japanese or Korean as at that time they were the only Orientals who could afford expensive Germany. When they said they were Chinese I said “Oh, you are from Taiwan!” “No,” the male answered, “We are from Mainland China.”

I was astounded. Mainland Chinese were always among the poorest of the Asians and their government kept a tight fist on them travel-wise. I looked at them puzzled for a moment, but did not ask how they could afford to get here. I took them on to the hostel and told them about a few things to see in the area and left. I couldn’t believe that anyone from there could afford to come here, especially a rich area like Munich which I had a hard time affording even as an American.

I was to see a few more similar, strange things in the next few years.

Later on a train I had a rather formal young Asian man and an older man who seemed to be his boss ask me a question in English about the train and the destination. I answered him. I recognized him as being Chinese and asked if he was from Taiwan. Again I got the same surprise answer only this time a much more formalized answer- “We are from the People’s Republic of China!” he said with great pride and asked where I was from. When I told him I was from the U.S. it was his turn to be surprised and he was quiet for a moment. The older man seemed like he couldn’t be bothered to say anything. I got the impression he was some sort of government trainer and had this kid on a tight leash. As I remember they were wearing some sort of Party lapel pin. My feeling with the older guy was he looked like a ruthless, bureaucratic type who always kept his cards well hidden. The young man was obviously a kid wanting to move up the ranks and get a good career and playing the patriotic role to get ahead.

I ended up rooming with a handicapped man in a poorer part of Munich in a government housing area. He would hire a woman to clean the apartment. They were usually foreign women who could find no other work. They came and went. Because it is hard to meet people in Germany, I befriended a couple of them. Not out of sex but just for conversation. One day a youngish Chinese woman came to work. Upon talking to her I found that she was also from the Mainland. It turns out that the German government was offering computer workers from Red China rooming and a small salary to come there and fill the technical labor shortage that Germany had at that time. She surprisingly didn’t make much money from it and did this side work to have some extra cash. She could speak German pretty well.

After time I got to know her fairly well. I emphasize that this was a platonic relationship, I was not after her for sex. I had already broken up with a German woman and did not want another partner right away. Due to her work with computers she was considered middle class in Beijing where she was from. She had a husband and a child back home. Even though she was by Chinese standards well off there, she could only afford meat for the family there once a month. She was making up for that lack while she was in Germany. I commented to her that it wasn’t healthy to eat too much meat but she wouldn’t hear of it. “No, I eat meat every day here!” she stated joyfully.

She showed me one time where she lived. It was a dormitory-like facility and I believe she had one or two roommates. “We live here very poor.” she said humbly. She was excited about the freedom in Germany and all the things she could do here that she couldn’t back home. I asked her if she liked China and she hissed “I hate China “ with a venomous spit. She actually didn’t want to go back. Her commitment here had actually ended already but she managed to sign up for another one.

She wanted to learn partner dancing. I was not a big dance person, but I agreed to give it a go. We looked very odd to the other staid Germans in the class. Bavaria, the state Munich is in, was probably the most conservative area in the whole of Western Germany. I had learned the hard way by that time that a lot of Bavarians were not that keen on foreigners.

She was excited about learning dancing and she definitely picked it up quickly. I have big feet and was not quite as coordinated as she. She got a little upset at my being too stiff.

She had been at Tiananmen Square the day of the massacre. When the shots started she took off running. Fortunately she wasn’t hurt or arrested. As a side note; I have seen a photo that perhaps was not supposed to be seen by anyone from the massacre which showed a dead police or military man stripped naked who had been mounted up against a bus being held up by the windshield wiper around his neck. This means that there could have been violence from the crowd as well that was never publicized.

She took me to a Chinese party one time. There had to be maybe a hundred people present. I might have been one of the few, if any, non-Chinese there. They played an old Red propaganda song and I was surprised to hear them sing along in a lampooning sort of way.

We, as a mixed couple, gathered a few strange looks. And there was one look that night I will never forget. At one point she pulled me over and whispered to me about a young man who seemed to be the life of the party. He was dancing and singing and being generally very sociable. She whispered to me that you can always tell who is the Party spy or informer in the crowd and pointed to him. “They are always the ones who know how to do everything; sing, tell stories, be a buddy.” (sort of the opposite of our spies who are always keeping a low profile, or at least that is how they are in the movies.) A while later I saw his laser focus on us and the snide, evil smirk on his face that looked like he was going to have fun writing us up on his nightly dossier. I have wondered if this ever caught up with her at some time. Having read about how insidious the Red Chinese can be I wouldn’t doubt that they would make trouble for her or drag her back screaming to her homeland.

You could see the mark her government had left on her. She was competitive and fault finding and always comparing herself to me and others. Her utter hatred of China I already mentioned. Her husband begged her to come back, but she didn’t want to. She eventually got a bigger assignment from her boss and I guess she figured that I was beneath her dignity now. I saw her off at a train station on her way to her new work and she publicly said something very rude loudly so everyone could hear it. I couldn’t believe that she could be so mean spirited. Some months later I was sitting on a crowded subway and was very deep into a book. Suddenly I had a weird feeling that someone was staring at me. I looked up and noticed that I had the only empty seat next to me in the train car and she was standing there in the aisle looking at it like she needed to sit down, but was too afraid to sit next to me. I looked at her for a moment. My expression changed to one of indifference and spite and I went back to my book. The look on her face said that she was too afraid to sit and that was fine by me. I never saw her again. And that was totally OK too.

I later met a very nice, happy Mainland Chinese woman in my German Class. She was very friendly and invited me to her place once (again, this was platonic. I liked her as a friend and that was it.) She enjoyed being in Germany but there was a caveat- her husband was there too but in a far distant part of the country. They only saw each other once a month and one of them would have to take an expensive train trip to visit the other. I suspect this might have been set up this way purposely by the Chinese government to control them. If so, it is a cruel thing to do to keep them separate. But then the Red government is not known for being kind.

The purpose of my writing this is to point out that there seemed to be a sizable movement to infiltrate Germany with a large number of Chinese citizens to learn the German way of doing things and to accustom themselves with their quality and to bring that knowledge and training back home. But some were certainly mini-spies too. Throughout the last 30 years the Red Chinese have literally been infiltrating every country in the world and trying to get a foothold in each. In Australia and the US they have been buying up land- a foolish and dangerous thing for us to be letting go of. The Red Chinese respect no one’s laws. Buying land gives them a foothold in a country. This is being especially shown in the South China Sea where they are constantly violating the sovereign space around all their neighbors and are just waiting to pounce on Taiwan, a country which declared its freedom back at the end of World War Two. In the headlines this week they pulled a big naval exercise in the strait between Australia and New Zealand setting off alarms in both those countries.

In many poorer countries around the world they have offered building projects in areas of interest to the Chinese big wigs that want control there. They build ports, bridges and roads often with the knowledge that the country will not be able to afford to pay them back and then the Reds take over control of this area as theirs. This happened a few years ago in Ceylon when they built a port there. Ceylon defaulted and now the Chinese are running it.

We do not need to be paranoid about this threat, but we do need to be aware and ready. To underestimate the intentions of this behemoth of a country would be asking for disaster.
