5 Sites to Help You Complete Your National Novel Writing Month Goals

It's not too late to start writing this month…and keep on writing.

It’s National Novel Writing Month aka NaNoWriMo. You may have heard of it and decided that you want to participate in it this year only to discover that the website, NaNoWriMo, doesn’t exist anymore. So now what? Here are 5 sites for you to check out to find the support and motivation to keep writing through the remainder of this month and beyond.

All of these sites are for any writer who wants to focus on their written work with external support. It’s like having a work-out partner but for writing instead of hitting the gym. You can join any time this month (or anytime during the year) and all of them are free!

1. **4theword If you love playing classic adventure video games, this could be the site for you to join to stay motivated to write this month. You create an avatar and you battle other writers in writing sprints. You earn treasures, and weapons from your writing effort. You can join others to form groups that battle against each other or you can do a solo adventure. The site allows you to write your stories inside of it and automatically counts your words for you.**
2. **WriteTrack If you are the type of writer that likes monthly challenges then this may be the site for you. Every month you can enter a writing competition/challenge. The maximum is 3 challenges per rotation. You pick the challenge that you want to enter and then you have one month to write and submit your work. If you are the type of writer who likes challenges and a set deadline, this may be the site for you**.
3. **Game of Tomes This is a great site for writers who like to be a part of a team. You join a particular “house” and submit your word count during the event month. You can join any house that you want, each one has a description. The houses with the in the title means that they need more writers. This could be a fun opportunity to stay motivated to crank out more words this month. At the end of the event the team with the most words wins! You can still join and contribute your November word count starting today! They also have other writing events throughout the year.
4. **Shut Up & Write If you are the type of writer that needs live community support this could be the one for you. They have online and in-person writing events. The online meet ups are hosted either through Zoom or Google Meet. They are set for different times and time zones so **you can easily find a time slot that works with your schedule. The in-person writing events page lists all the meet ups that are available in your area. This is a great option if you are the type of writer who enjoys being a part of a communicative community.
5. **Order of the Written Word If you are looking for something different to inspire you to start or keep writing this month, this could be the site for you. They have 3 challenge options for the month of November:**

• “The Novelist’s Initiation” This option is focused on writing at least 30,000 words (or more) for your novel.
• “The Trials of Verse & Vignette” The focus of this option is to write around 15 poems or 8 short stories (or more) each one being between 1,000–10,000 words each.
• “The Refinement Ritual” This option focuses on revising a draft of your current work, novel, poems, or short stories.

Community support is provided through their Discord group. This is a great site to join if you are looking for direct feedback on your work and want to stay motivated with your word count.
