Jazz 7" Singles (Pt.32 — Billie Holiday/Buck Clayton)
Today you get a two-for from the 7" jazz record collection, but FYI, both Billie and Buck have appeared before in this series, as part of the Phillips Jazz Gallery batch. The Billie Holiday EP scanned weird but cool enough to not worry about it because it goes with the Buck Clayton cool cover (bought just for the cool cover). Buck was well known for recording with Billie (along with Lester Young) and garnered this accolade from Ms Holiday, “The prettiest cat I ever saw.” With Miles Davis (who was also included the Phillips Jazz Gallery batch) proclaiming, “I always asked Billie to sing ‘I Loves You, Porgy’ because when she sang ‘don’t let him touch me with his hot hands’ you could almost feel that s*** she was feeling.”
