Today, we will just get right into it!

What does it mean to kill the flesh?

To kill the flesh means to gain victory over the flesh and its sinful desires, and today we will be looking at how to crucify/kill the flesh.

Let’s take a look at the word F-L-E-S-H to see how we can kill the flesh.

F- Flee all appearances of evil

Abstain from all appearance of evil– 1Thessalonians 5:22

It doesn’t have to be evil, as long as it appears as evil, just as the bible says, Flee i.e,. Abstain from it!

L- Let’s not be ignorant of the devil’s devices

Lest Satan should get the advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices– 2 Corinthians 2:11

The devil won’t come to you with a tuning fork; he will appear as an angel of light and try to deceive you, and he does so with what we call his devices, so it is pertinent that we are aware of the devices of the enemy and we are not ignorant of them.

Just like in the Garden of Eden, he showed Eve a fruit that appeared to be good, which led to the fall of man; he will always make sin look good and pleasing, so don’t fall for his trap, they are known as his devices.

E- Ensure to confess your faults to someone

Therefore, confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. **James 5:16**

Sin thrives in secrecy. Confess your faults to trusted brethren in the faith and be accountable to them concerning the areas where you are experiencing sinful habits.

S- Sexual Immorality and other related subjects

Name them:

Pornography, Masturbation, and Sexual immorality, the devil has pervaded the world with many of these vices, and the only way out of them is to FLEE F- Forsake all appearances of evil

L- Let God help you get rid of them, pray to him, and pray consistently, and he will

E- Eliminate all the devices of the devil you have at your disposal

For example, worldly songs, and many more, get rid of them! They won’t do you any good!

E- Exercise yourself unto godliness– Pray, Fast, Worship God, attend bible based programs to help feed your mind on things of righteousness and godliness.

H- “The Holy Spirit” (The Role of the Holy Spirit)

While you have a part to play in killing the flesh, The role of the Holy Spirit is the most important part of the equation, because he is your helper, partner, and friend in killing the flesh so go to him and ask him to help you overcome these sinful habits and desires, tag him along in the place of prayer when dealing with these sins, ask him to alert you when you are beginning to drift away from godliness and he will help act as a traffic light, telling you when to stop doing something that will lead you to sin or the works of the flesh as in the red color of the traffic light or telling you when to get ready to flee an appearance of evil as in the yellow color of the traffic light or telling you when to start doing a godly activity that will help feed your mind on the right things and draw you away from sin as in the green colour of the traffic light. Just tag your friend and senior partner, the Holyspirit in this journey of killing the flesh, and he will help you all together!
