Syria’s New Leadership: Al-Sharaa and UAE President Discuss Aid and Cooperation

In a significant diplomatic engagement, Syria’s new leader, Ahmed al-Sharaa, and UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan held a phone conversation on Friday, focusing on collaborative efforts to assist the Syrian people during this pivotal transitional period.

Al-Sharaa, who now leads Syria following the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad on December 8 by his opposition coalition “Hayat Tahrir al-Sham” (HTS), discussed strategies to rebuild the war-torn nation and restore its place within the regional and international community. The coalition’s victory marked the end of a 13-year civil war that left over 500,000 dead and displaced millions, sparking widespread global interest in Syria’s future.
