Gods Over God
An Original Poem

“The Greater Loss” by Yaguis Imareal
Built on sand, not stone.
Foundation shatterable
Destroyable love.
God’s doll.
“You are a temple,”
God tells me.
I tear the pillars down.
Let me collapse.
He claims me as a child.
I disown him.
Safety is away from him.
With my home.
The family disapprove.
“Be holy. Be his.”
I am not.
I am with the gods.
I wish to leave.
Do they understand?
I’m trapped.
Free myself.
I will untie.
Float away.
Safely gone from here.
Going anywhere.
Artist’s tears
They fuel me
Flowing down.
Real truth I feel.
A long gap.
Time spent away.
Returning stronger.
Alive.
Jesus, my savior.
Forgive me.
I mean no anger to you.
I only hate who love you.
I want to go.
Return me.
Send me back to them
To say goodbye.
I’ll be getting out.
One day.
But in the meantime
I must survive.
