What’s up girlies and broskies?!

What if I told you there’s a way to create cute, fun, sometimes viral digital things from your laptop — without coding, without fancy gear, and without needing a 3AM breakdown over how tech works?

Enter: AR Design 💫 And no, not the hardcore Elon Musk type. I’m talking about making your own snapchat filters — the kind with sparkles, glow-ups, anime eyes, even floating accessories. It’s creative, surprisingly easy, and lowkey addictive.

💡 What’s even better?

You don’t need to be a tech genius. You just need snapchat lens studio — a free AR design platform that lets you:

Build your own aesthetic or funny snapchat filters

Preview them on your face in real time

Share them with friends (or fans 👀)

AND — if your lens gets popular — earn real rewards through Snap’s creator programs

Whether you’re in it for the art, the clout, or the coin — snapchat lens studio is the perfect way to dip your toes into the world of AR design without drowning in code. Because once you understand how it works, it’s actually so freaking fun — and yes, even YOU can create your own lens. I’m gonna walk you through it like a friend sitting next to you. No techy confusion, no skipping steps.

Let’s go from “what the heck?” to “omg I made that 😭💅”

🖥️ Let’s get started – step-by-step from opening the app

STEP 1→Download & Install

Go to: lensstudio.snapchat.com

Download the latest version for your device (Windows/Mac)

Install it and open lens studio

STEP 2→The scary screen – explained (You Got This)

When lens studio opens, you’ll see:

Section s:

• Preview the AI model — shows what your lens will look like in real-time • Objects panel (left) → all the parts that make up your lens (like makeup, overlays, effects) • Inspector panel (right) → Lets you edit whatever object is selected • Resources panel (bottom) → Where your images, textures, and sounds are stored • Graph (optional) Ignore this for now — it’s for visual coding, not needed for basic lenses.

[If you feel lost: think of it like photoshop meets Snapchat meets drag-n-drop. Just chill and explore.]

STEP 3→ Choose a template (Yes, you should start here)

Trust me — templates are your BFF when you're new.

  • Click file > new project
  • You’ll see dozens of templates like:
  • Face retouch (for glowing skin)
  • Makeup (for blush/lashes)
  • Face inset (picture inside your face)
  • 3D objects
  • Headwear / Accessories

[Start with “makeup” or “face mask” — they’re beginner-safe and super customizable.]

STEP 4 → Let’s add a real effect (sparkle filter? cute hearts?)

We’ll add a soft sparkle to your face filter — basic but…🔥

  1. In the objects panel, click the “+” button.

  2. Select face effects > face mesh.

This puts a 3D layer on the face model.

  1. Now go to the inspector panel (on the right).

You’ll see a “material” slot — this is what controls how it looks.

  1. Click the “+” next to material → it adds a new material.

Now let’s make it sparkle !✨

  1. In the resources panel (bottom), click on that new material → change shader type to unlit. Click base texture and upload your sparkle png or glitter image.

No sparkle png? You can make one in canva (transparent bg) or download from free png sites like pngtree or pixabay.

Done! Your model now has sparkly goodness on their face 😭😭😭

STEP 5 → Preview your lens on your face

Let’s test it in real life:

  1. On the top right corner, click “preview in snapchat”.

  2. A QR code will pop up.

  3. Open snapchat on your phone → tap bitmoji → settings ⚙️ → snapcodes → scan from camera.

  4. Scan the code — and BOOM, your filter is now LIVE on your camera.

You made that! Yupp.

STEP 6 → Save & Publish

When you’re happy with the lens:

  1. Go to file > save project as

  2. Then hit submit lens (snapchat will guide you through naming, category, preview, etc.)

  3. Wait a few hours — after approval, you’ll get a public link to share it with the world!

Pro tip: You can add it to your profile, share in bio, or post on stories 💅🦜

BONUS TIP:-

  • A very common problem is “my image isn’t showing up” — Make sure it’s in the texture slot of a material, and that material is applied to an object like face mesh.
  • Or, “the filter isn’t on my face” , you probably need to attach it to the head binding or use a face mesh object.
  • Or “nothing happens in preview” — check that your objects are enabled (tiny checkbox in objects panel), and your camera preview is on.

Final thoughts??? YOU DID THAT

You don’t need to be a coder. You don’t need to be a designer. You just need to open lens studio, click around, experiment, and vibe.

✨ You will mess up. You will get confused. But that’s how you learn. And I promise, once your first filter shows up on your face… you’ll be OBSESSED. ✨

Now go make something cute and tag me if you do 😭💛

[Liked the vibe? Don’t ghost me now — hit that follow, drop a like, and let’s keep turning digital dust into ✨designer magic✨. Catch you on the next glow-up, bestie!!!]
