Dune II: The Building of a Dynasty

Dune II is a real-time strategy game that was developed by Westwood Studios back in 1992. It is also known as Dune II: The Building of a Dynasty, Dune II: Battle for Arrakis and Dune: The Battle for Arrakis. Originally released only for MS-DOS now you can play it on any modern system including Windows 10/11, Linux and macOS.

In Dune II you need to take on hold of a Great House, this can be either one of the following:

1. Atreides
2. Harkonnen
3. Ordos

Once you command one of the great houses, you can then start focusing on producing Spice Melange, the main resource of the planet Arrakis.

Spice Melange

This is the main part of the economy of the Dune II game. You need to be harvesting Spice as its an important aspect on how the economy in the game is as without it you cannot expand your progress much.

Multi-Platform

New platform changes and open-source projects have made the game now able to run on Windows, Linux and macOS. When it initially released it was only released for MS-DOS and no other platform. There are now modern ports of this game available too.

Creativity and RTS

Real-time strategy game fans have a field day with Dune II as it is the game that set how modern games looked from this release. As you progress more and more, you will unlock more buildings and technology in the game.

Build Structures

If you like to build structures you will like Dune II as you as you can build your own base and add buildings to your own choice. You can place units as and where you please on the map.

Fog of War

The majority of the map in Dune II game is hidden. It only reveals itself if you have your units exploring those areas. This is where scouting comes into play as you do this to find other enemy bases and spice fields so you can harvest them.
