Coronavirus Diaries: Early September, 2020 : UK
The images portrayed here are all too familiar ones, out in the media, regarding the attack areas related to Covid.
Are they strictly true?
I’ve cottoned on by now that this virus tends to be airborne, (just as I suspected in the very early days), and as such anyone can breathe it in. Even when positioned in a room by yourself, when others have vacated sometimes well beforehand.
All it takes is for one or more of that crowd having the virus to have breathed out into the room that you’ve just stepped into.
Spooky I know.
Also, consider a scenario here, where that person who has covid, is actually asymptomatic. He or she doesn’t even know they have it, but you, being symptomatic, certainly will if you subsequently go down with it.
What’s even spookier are the possible longer-lasting effects of covid.
If you are really unlucky, in not being able to overcome any of its many effects, in a relatively short term of say a couple of weeks, you stand more than a chance in wandering into that largely unknown territory of ‘long covid.’
You are then more than likely to suffer for a considerable length of time, in all manner of different ways.
Meanwhile, no real assistance is being directed to those suffering from ‘Long Covid.’
A true crime in my book and I’m not writing a novel here.
For all the unfortunate people here, ( mounting numbers in all age brackets) , the symptoms balloon in many different ways.
Health services are thin on the ground, to even begin to help with any of this. GP’s in their doctor’s surgeries ,( when they re-open that is), are simply ignoring people’s plight here!
Long Covid is still not sufficiently recognised, never mind treating it.
There are currently a staggering 60,000 of such Long Covid sufferers within the UK.
I’m pretty sure this figure will rise exponentially as well as all the ‘normal’ cases in future months.
I’ll switch to these cases in a minute, but consider this.
Long Covid can occur to anyone, at any time, when they’re infected with the virus.
A real -live game of Russian Roulette for us all, rather than Chinese whispers of just where the hell has all this come from.
With this game, there’s more than just a solitary chamber, of that pistol being pointed at your head, being loaded with a bullet.
Just who knows what the outcome may be, once that trigger is pulled on you?
Not nice for sure.
So, as promised, back to the current caseload.
5.00pm Numbers Game:
New cases : 2420
Daily deaths : 30
Total deaths : 46,988
Easy to see with the ever rising number of ‘normal’ cases, (let alone any developing into ‘long covid’ ones), that it’s not only me showing concern.
At long last.
For guess what?
9th September, 2020, Wednesday:
The government has finally acted.

Matt Hancock has now outlined the new Nationwide restrictions hitting everyone from next Monday.
Presumably all this, with Boris Johnson’s wishes?
Who truly knows, maybe the scientific advisers have decided to come into play again?
- No more than six are allowed in any social gathering either indoors or outdoors.
- Weddings, funerals being exempt from this enforceable order, which includes initial fines of £100, then doubled successively up to a maximum of £3,200.
So, the legal limit on social gatherings has now been reduced from 30 down to six, with the daily newspapers running with headlines such as , ‘Safe Six’.
If only something in this world could be anywhere near safe once again.
