Trial and Error- The best way of learning at any stage

Pause and Reflect !

When do children learn truly and meaningfully-

• When everything is given to them?
• When everything goes exactly as planned?

Or

• When the process is self-driven, full of attempts, errors and self-discoveries, leading them to understand and realise what to do and what to avoid?

Take a moment and think-how does a child learn to walk?

By a set plan, or by exploring their own ways through countless Trials and Errors.

In the entire process they fall many times, but with each fall, they develop and exhibit something invaluable — endurance, balance, strength, courage, confidence, perseverance.

And one day, after many attempts, they don’t just walk… they run.

Children don’t judge their errors. But knowingly or unknowingly, somewhere along the way, we make them understand that errors and failures are not good- sometimes through our words, and sometimes through our gestures.

As adults, our role is not to remove every obstacle, but to scaffold the journey by:

• Trusting their capabilities
• Respecting their individual pace and path
• Giving them space to try, fail, and try again
• Making them feel safe and secure through our presence, not protection

Children are far more capable than we think.

Let’s not rush to fix every error because this is the phase where the most powerful learning happens.

We may forget what worked for us but rarely forget what didn’t.

So, let them Try, allow them to make Errors, And witness the unfolding of a beautiful journey.

The most beautiful aspect: This isn’t for children only, but for us too.
