How to build an unshakable confidence
How to build an unshakable confidence

Confidence is a matter of how you choose to see yourself and how you choose to interact with the world based on that view.
How to build confidence
What would you rate yourself on a scale of one to ten? How confident are you? What kind of picture do you have of yourself in your head? If someone were to ask you these questions, what would your answer be and why? Whether you are born with it or not, confidence is a muscle that is built through consistent exercise. There are a lot of techniques and methods to improve your confidence. One of the many methods is affirmations. This blog will explore the different ways an affirmation may change the way you think and ultimately lead you to achieve confidence like no other.
Affirmations

Affirmations can be anything you may need to hear
An Affirmation is a positive statement one repeats to themselves to promote a positive attitude/ mindset. Though it is very simple, affirmations can help you have a more positive outlook, positively reshape your self-image, and even how you approach challenges. Affirmations work because your mind is constantly paying attention to what is happening internally and externally. This means, when you are constantly telling yourself things like “this is too hard” or “I’m not good enough” your brain is listening to that and turning those beliefs into a part of your identity. Though those moments are fleeting, if you are not making a conscious effort to have more positive self talk, without being aware of it, you could be working against self confidence. In this way, affirmations act as intentional counter-programming.
Unshakable confidence
There have been a few studies done on the effects self affirmations have on people. A common result researchers have found is that “…practicing self-affirmations can minimize…defensiveness associated with threats to our sense of self while also keeping us open to improvement…”. This suggests that practicing affirmations can help one stay well grounded into the person they wish to become. More than that, affirmations can help you develop that confidence and stability in who you are already.
It worked on me, why not you?
From personal experience I’ve found that the most effective way to use affirmations is to make a list of things I feel that I need to hear to be more confident. From there I repeat this list to myself in the mirror everyday when I get ready in the morning. An example I have of this is repeating affirmations like: “I am enough”, “I deserve fulfilling relationships”, “I am happy to be me”, meaningfully in the mirror while icing my face. When I said these affirmations to myself while doing the best I can to mean every single word, I found that a few weeks later the affirmations became more believable. Something about looking myself in the eye and really wanting to believe better about myself, changed my perception about my self-image. For the first time in life, I was beginning to see myself in a positive light and it had nothing to do with external validation. I no longer needed to hear about how beautiful I am, but strangely enough, compliments became more consistent when I started practicing affirmations. It was like changing how I feel about myself on the inside and how it had a positive influence on everything happening on the outside too. I believe better things about myself because it just makes sense to. I see no point in constantly bringing myself down indiscriminately. This confidence I worked so hard on can not be taken away from me by anyone because it is not reliant on how someone else sees me but how I choose to see myself.
Cessation
Affirmations can be a key stepping stone in a person creating stability in their identity. Whether you decide to repeat them to yourself in the mornings when you are getting ready or when you are about to go to bed. Affirmations have been proven to be useful in re-programming your way of thinking or even how you approach life. Affirmations build confidence. Though there are many different ways to go about building confidence, affirmations are inexpensive and easy to utilize, making them more accessible to everyone. There’s no such thing as too or too early when it comes to building your confidence, so why wait? Start doing affirmations today and take note of what your life looks like a few months from now.

What’s stopping you now?
