Why Supporting Guaido is Still Important in 2021

Germany May be Wavering but now more than ever- the world needs her

My dear readers, leaders of the world- when one nation suffers under despotism we all suffer with her. To turn away support from the light of liberty in a country yearning for the light would be like turning away a loaf of bread from a starving child. The fight for liberty is not won over night- did the Spanish Empire fall in a day? Were the 13 colonies liberated from the clutches of the British Empire in a week? Did Solidarnosc in Poland instantly lead to the tumbling of an entire regime of tyranny? Alas my gentle reader- no. They take steps of efforts for the liberation of people. I speak to the leaders of the European Union, who are starting to wonder if they should support Maduro since Maduro still clings to power. But I also speak to you my reader, and all else who care about the cause of freedom.Democracy is a worthy goal all nations should achieve. There are some critics that argue perhaps some nations are not “culturally ready” for democracy. With all do respect- this is not the case. France (for example) suffered for centuries under one of the most authoritarian and despotic regimes that the world has ever seen- the Bourbon regime. The Bourbons were guilty of genocide, colonization and countless other crimes against humanity. Imagine if an observer remarked “Ohh, I don’t believe the French have a culture of democracy- all they know is despotism.” Such a comment would be highly bigoted! France today is one of the strongest democracies and a shinning beacon of liberty that the rest of the world admires. Likewise, Spain had an even more extreme version of despotism with the inquisition which thankfully no longer exists. Imagine somebody saying that about Spain, the UK, Germany or countless other nations that have once been subjugated to the yoke of oppression and are now free. The same will be said I believe about all nations were dictators now reign. If we (the world) withdraw our support from recognizing the legitimate president of Venezuela, we let Maduro win. The only reason for Maduro’s continued reign is the international support and backing he receives from Russia, China, and Cuba’s governments. There is nothing per se that the United States or France can do directly, but we can call on the governments of Russia, China, and Cuba to stop their interference and let the Venezuelan people decide what is best. The people of Venezuela want change, they are fleeing in the millions to escape economic catastrophe. Maduro does not have popular support, and he is by all definitions a tyrant. I do not use the word tyrant lightly but a leader who imprisons political opposition, suppresses dissent and denies the suffering of the people is very much a traditional tyrant. People of the world- now is not to turn away our support from Guaido, now is the time to keep standing for Guaido and change in Venezuela. May this story someday be the way we talk about Spain or Poland- they used to be a dictatorship but now they are a democracy.
