Gender Equality Means Fairness, Not Taking Sides
In today’s world, discussions about gender often become one-sided. Some people believe that women are always right, while others believe that men are. In my opinion, neither view is correct. Every individual should be judged based on their actions, not on their gender.
It is widely believed that women are unsafe in India, and there is no doubt that many women face serious challenges. However, this does not mean that men never become victims. I have often noticed that many men also experience abuse, harassment, false accusations, and emotional suffering, but their struggles are frequently overlooked. A fair society should acknowledge the problems faced by both men and women.
One of the biggest issues is that people often make decisions after hearing only one side of the story. Justice should never depend on gender. Before reaching any conclusion, both sides should be heard carefully, and decisions should be based on evidence and facts rather than assumptions or stereotypes.
For centuries, society has followed a patriarchal system in which women were often considered weaker and were expected to focus only on household responsibilities, such as cooking and raising children. As society has progressed, women have proved that they are capable of succeeding in every field, and this progress should be appreciated and encouraged. However, equality should not mean that anyone is beyond accountability.
If a person misuses laws or falsely accuses someone, they should face appropriate legal consequences, regardless of whether they are a man or a woman. Laws should protect genuine victims while also preventing the misuse of legal rights. Justice must remain fair, balanced, and impartial.
As a girl, I am expressing these views because I believe in true gender equality. Supporting equality does not mean blindly supporting one gender over the other. It means treating everyone equally, listening to both sides, and ensuring that anyone who commits a crime is held responsible for their actions.
A society based on fairness, accountability, and equal justice will benefit everyone. Gender should never determine who is believed or who is blamed. Only truth, evidence, and justice should guide our decisions.
