Spooky season isn’t about the scares or the ghouls

It’s about the sense of wonder of seeing the leaves turn orange

Or how the wind howls differently

Spooky season isn’t about the tiny witches and treats

It’s about seeing children show off being a different being

And being accepted.

Spooky season isn’t the scary movies or the haunting events

It’s a lighted candle in the dark

It’s splashes of orange, and pumpkins and cozy feelings

Spooky season are moments in time, the forgotten spaces

Where fun time summer heads towards good mood winter

But spooky season is smack in the middle, the turning, the forgotten.

Those moments where

you meet a fictional god of Areppo who resides in Tumblr

And it’s in these spooky seasons

Where I look up at the dark sky, not scared, not looking for treats

But happy in the quiet solitude of being

And making memories of times of healing.

Spooky season isn’t a time

It is a mindset.
