A Nietzschean Ascent

The breeze entered my chest cold, uncompromised and halted there as if asking whether I was worthy to breathe it. My steps struck the land in rhythm with my resolve.

It was an hour where the stars still dare to speak, I read the constellations like the old laws that no longer bind me. I waited there for the revelations in awe.

Then the mountains stood forth broad and sovereign, unmoved by prayers, untouched by opinions. The wind my only voice, my eyes drinking their godly might. They didn’t persuade; they were.

I cast aside the mirror that the society tells us to rehearse our polished lies. I became free when I ceased reflecting and began standing untamed, unborrowed, my own.

I was emptied, filled and lifted by the ascent and there I stood, unmoved, gazing all and all gazed back, bearing a silent truth unfathomable to the unwitnessed.
