Vibe Programming: When Coding Stops Feeling Like a Chore
Somewhere along the way, coding became clinical. It wasn’t meant to be.
I’ve spent more than two and a half decades in this space-building systems, mentoring teams, sweating through projects that, at one point, gave me no right to go live… but I did anyway. I’ve seen technology evolve, languages emerge, paradigms flip-flop. But one thing has remained heartbreakingly consistent:
Most people are taught to code like machines. Not as creators. Not as humans.
The Birth of Vibe Programming
Let me tell you how this began.
A few weeks ago, while mentoring a brilliant yet withdrawn young developer-reserved, analytical, neurodivergent-I noticed something:
He had the logic down. But the joy? The flow? Absent. He was burned out at 24.
We talked. We restructured. We experimented. I began designing a new approach-more rhythm than rigor, more flow than force.
That was the spark. Vibe Programming dawned upon me.
What Is Vibe Programming?
Vibe Programming isn’t a framework. It’s not another bootcamp or acronym-laden method.
- Your coding style matters more than your laptop specs
- Creativity gets a seat at the table-next to logic, not beneath it
- Mental health is treated as a build dependency , not a side note
Vibe Programming Principles — As I See Them
Is This for Everyone? No. And That’s the Point.
- Get exhausted by noisy cohort calls
- Want to feel the rhythm of your coding
- Think better (in silence or in chaos)
- Believe that emotion is not the enemy of engineering
…then this space is designed for you. Or, perhaps, you simply want to stand apart from the crowd.
I call it the Low Noise High Signal Movement -a vibe-first, energy-respecting, async-embracing approach to becoming not just a better developer, but a more whole one -where clarity meets code.
This is not a one-off. I’ll be writing more about:
- Vibe Bootcamps (and why they’re async by design)
- How I build energy logs for devs-yes, like a vibe-based dev.log
- Real-life experiments with learners
- Designing codebases that are emotionally ergonomic
- The psychology of cognitive load, overstimulation, and code fatigue
This isn’t just theory. This is lived experience.
There’s no shortage of tutorials. But there is a shortage of space where developers feel safe being themselves.
Because here’s the truth:
You can’t write clean code with a cluttered mind. And once you protect your vibe, the code starts to write itself.
