What Happens If I Hold My Apple Shares for 10 Years?
This is not financial advice. This article is simply part of my personal investing journey and a hypothetical calculation based on my own assumptions.
When I started my dividend investing journey, I began with just $25.
Today, I own 18 shares of Apple stock.
That got me thinking:
What could happen if I simply held those shares for the next 10 years and continued investing just $3 every week?
Why Apple?
The reason I originally bought Apple was simple.
I use an iPhone every day.
I see Apple products everywhere.
The company has a strong brand, loyal customers, and a long history of innovation.
Of course, no company is guaranteed to succeed forever, but Apple is one of the businesses I personally understand and use.
The Experiment
For this example, let’s assume:
- I currently own 18 Apple shares.
- I invest an additional $3 every week.
- I reinvest any dividends I receive.
- Apple continues growing over the long term.
I am not trying to predict the future. Nobody can.
This is simply a way to understand how small, consistent investments can potentially grow over time.
The Power of Consistency
Many people think investing requires thousands of dollars.
My experience has been different.
The most important step was simply getting started.
Even $3 per week adds up.
- $3 per week = $156 per year
- Over 10 years = $1,560 invested
That may not sound like much, but investing isn’t only about the money you contribute.
It’s also about giving your investments time to grow.
What Could the Future Look Like?
If Apple continues to grow over the next decade and I continue investing consistently, my portfolio could potentially be worth significantly more than what I originally invested.
Will it happen exactly that way?
Probably not.
The stock market never moves in a straight line.
There will be good years and bad years.
But that’s not the point.
The point is building a habit.
What I’ve Learned So Far
The biggest lesson from my investing journey isn’t about stock prices.
It’s about consistency.
I don’t need to invest hundreds of dollars every week.
I don’t need to find the next hot stock.
I just need to keep showing up and investing regularly.
Final Thoughts
My dividend journey started with just $25.
Today I own 18 shares of Apple, and I’m continuing to add a small amount every week.
Will this make me rich?
I don’t know.
But ten years from now, I’ll be glad I started today rather than waiting for the perfect moment.
This article is part of my public investing journal where I share my wins, mistakes, lessons, and progress as I continue building my portfolio one step at a time.
