Wanderlust IS in My Bones
May-June Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “EXPLORE ”
No need for a home base.
When Vidya Sury, Collecting Smiles’s Wanderlust story (link below), popped up in my email this morning, it prompted me to share my own wanderlust dreams.
While many families vacationed in the same location year after year, my family explored new destinations. Each summer vacation, we would travel to a new state (or states).
We drove across the country, camping along the way. It was an incredible way to experience the United States. I’m still grateful for having grown up traveling in this way.
By the time I was 16, I had been to 36 of the 50 states, without any flights. My parents instilled in me a sense of wonder and wander that has never left.
If I could, and someday I might, I would not have a home/house and I would wander and travel as much as I could. I would love to spend 1–3 months in a location and then move on. Or, if I’m not inspired by that location, on to the next.
Wanderlust is in my soul.
