Saved.io: 2026 updates for the online bookmark manager

The new interface is just as simple as the old version — just a little more polished

What’s new

New backend and frontend: Saved.io is built with PHP. The previous version used my own framework, but because I wasn’t using PHP as much, that framework had become out of date. I rebuilt the entire app using Laravel. The new app should be faster.

The frontend used an old CSS framework. These days, a framework isn’t needed as much because CSS has added a lot over the last 15 years. The new app uses modern CSS.

New search features: There are now over a dozen search operators, making it easier to find bookmarks using natural language.

Public lists: You can now share lists of curated bookmarks.

Better API: The API has been dramatically improved. You can now access all site features through the API, including the new search operators.

AI agent support: Give your AI agent access to your bookmarks. There is MCP support, so you can easily give Codex, Claude or other agents access to your bookmarks. This is great for creating a central repository of knowledge that is accessible between local and cloud environments.

URL Shortcuts: If you want to save a bookmark without grabbing the title you can just type “saved.io/-“ in front of any url. If you want to grab a bookmark and edit the title and notes before saving you can type “saved.io/+“. I know people use the app in different ways and this will speed up their workflows.

Improved title grabbing: Grabbing website titles has become harder and harder. Unfortunately, bad actors have ruined the internet for legitimate tools like Saved.io, and many websites now block all crawling. To handle this, I’ve created some site-specific title grabbers that use APIs and other public sources to improve the tool.

Removing the freemium option

I decided to remove the free tier. The #1 killer of cloud-based bookmarking tools was spam. By only supporting paid users, I can eliminate that problem entirely and keep the service running sustainably.

There is just a small yearly fee to use Saved.io and it includes unlimited bookmark storage. If you hate subscriptions, there is also an option to pay a lifetime fee.

What’s the same

Saved.io still works the same way: just type “saved.io/“ in front of bookmarks to save them to the cloud.

It works across browsers, platforms and devices. Keep bookmarks in the cloud and accessible everywhere.
