Swaziland News is SEXIST
No, shame on YOU, Zwemart!
Swaziland News editor Zweli ‘Zwemart’ Dlamini is a very sexist man who will insult women’s agency at any given turn. Zwemart has published another story undermining the individuality and intelligence of women, calling judge Mumcy Dlamini a ‘prostitute’.

It doesn’t matter how much you disagree with a person, it is never ethical or good journalistic practise to call someone a ‘prostitute’. Zwemart made his misogyny very obvious when he called the judge a ‘prostitute’ because she made a ruling which he disagrees with — what kind of man resorts to such disgusting and unproductive name-calling so quickly?
In his pre-school level of sophistication, Zwemart tries to make it seem like ‘prostitute’ is a metaphor. He says that the the judge is cheating on the law by being loyal to His Majesty King Mswati III, basically claiming that the judge made an illegal ruling because the King commanded it — and in typical Swaziland News fashion, ZERO evidence is given to substantiate these claims. Nonetheless, even if this were true, to jump from saying that the judge is loyal to the King instead of the law to saying that she is a ‘judicial prostitute’ smacks of heavy sexism. Zwemart has accused many people of being loyal to the King, but he has NEVER called any of the men prostitutes. Like an unsocialized child, Zwemart jumped to saying the worst possible thing, exposing the sexist truth in his heart.
This is not the first time Zwemart has printed his sexism for all to see. When writing about the Buganu Ceremony, Zwemart is always making it sound like the women are forced to go to the ceremony, and that their husbands should not allow them to attend. This glaring sexism takes away any agency from the women. He assumes that they cannot possibly enjoy an outing with their peers, filled with dancing and drinking under a national identity affirming ceremony with all the leaders of the country — no, there’s no way women would want that, they MUST be forced by the evil king!
But wait, there’s more!
Zwemart believes that to stop the women “forced to attend Buganu Ceremony”, their husbands must intervene and force them to stay home — problem solved!
There’s only one way to describe that kind of thinking — delusional, sexist, and illogical. (Ok, maybe there are a lot of ways to describe Zwemart’s buffoonery).
It is ok for Zwemart to disagree with people going to a traditional event, but it is sexist to focus on the women and claim that they don’t make their own decisions.
It is ok for Zwemart to disagree with Judge Mumcy Dlamini’s ruling, but it is not ok for him to call her a ‘prostitute’ for it — especially when he has never called any men such a name under similar circumstances.
Emaswati and all readers of the Swaziland News tabloid should do so with a Sober Eye, always.
