Known Secrets

There’s a secret to be told, but that everybody knows.

It’s in writing where we play, when we seek to change the day.

I don’t know a person who may miss it, yet every person walks right into it.

It’s a secret of the day, when you cannot enjoy the play.

It’s in tales of the old, and in wonders long and short.

It’s a destiny in books, and in other people’s looks.

It’s a jest and not a terror, seen to some as just plain error.

It’s a secret not a crush, yelled in every other hush.

Some may seen it as a chasm, other when we go away.

It may not be a worry, but to heretics they scurry.

It’s a hurtful imposition, when we cannot see the mission.

And when all comes to a halt, it’s no longer brought to fault.

There’s a secret to be told, but not everyone lets go.
