The Heartbroken Code

And the code-broken me.

Not everything that breaks is a heart; sometimes it's a code, too.

When my code breaks: It also breaks my heart and My sanity

When your heart breaks, you question yourself, your decisions, and even blame yourself. It is a reverse situation when the code breaks. When code breaks, you question the code, the creator, you question everyone around you, and blame the first friend that you see.

I have been there, and I have done that. Yes. And I have been a victim of both cases. Believe me, the code always, mostly breaks on a Friday evening. It is just magical.

The heart can break anytime and anywhere. It has no fixed time and place. And when it breaks, you usually want to be alone and find a way to fix it again. Well, when code breaks, no one will let you be alone. They will watch and just ask, “Did it get fixed? and we are like, I don’t know what broke.”

There is a saying that goes, “Don’t touch it if it works”. Sometimes, as developers, we don’t have an idea why it works, and most of the time, we never bother to inquire.

Well, time does heal everything that breaks the heart. But time also slows down when you are heartbroken, and you want to move on very quickly, but time always take it’s time. It keeps reminding you: ‘Hey mate, don’t laugh, don’t smile, don’t sit quietly — just think and think more.’

Time’s concept is totally reversed when code is heartbroken. It is the fastest thing in the world when you need it to slow down. And this is how I learned that time is relative.

Broken hearts rarely heal themselves, but broken code does sometimes.

But one thing that is common to both cases is that you always get support from your friends. They’ll always try to lighten the mood. But you also need to have that level of friends. Colleagues don’t always work.

The other common thing is that both things are painful to have. I would never want anyone to have a heartbreak, but no one can stop the second thing from happening, especially if you are a developer.

I was once heartbroken; it went on for some two years, but time healed everything. And now I very rarely remember it. But I am almost every fortnight — Codebroken. I can tell the exact date, time, and place the last time something in code broke. I can even name the person responsible for it. It happens quickly, so I remember it easily. But it also gets fixed fast.

Codebroken does not exactly convey the feeling and meaning of heartbroken.

Today, AI can definitely heal a bit of codebroken person, but it definitely can’t heal a heartbroken one

When I am sad, I like to listen to sad songs like…

*Kyun aisi umeed ki mene jo aise nakaam huyi.A beautiful Bollywood song Why did I hope for something that was destined to break like this?*

When I am codebroken, I normally don’t have many preferences or options. I have to either listen to my manager, the client, or the senior, even if I don’t want to.
