Take me back to yesterday, When dawn would softly glow. No bright screens in our hands, Just the faces that we know. People talked on the front porch steps, Laughed until the stars came out, Every heart knew where it stood, And worries seemed to drift about.

No wires hummin’ in the air, No neon glow to steal the night, We lived with open eyes and hands, And wrong was wrong, and right was right.

Take me back to yesterday, When the world was wide and clear, When folks still gathered close together, And love was spoken, bright and clear. No cell phones ringin’, no machines, Just a fire, a song, and a friend, Take me back to yesterday, When this crazy world made sense again.

Kids played out until dark, Dust and laughter on their shoes, Neighbors knew each other’s names, And nobody hid the truth. We’d sit and share a meal in peace, With the radio soft and low, Life was hard, but it was ours, And good things seemed to grow.

No endless noise to drown the soul, No rush to pull us all apart, We had a compass in our bones, And a simple truth inside the heart.

Maybe time can’t turn around, Maybe days keep running on, But I still hold that memory Like a well-loved, gentle song. If we can’t go back for good, Let’s bring back what we knew: The kindness, truth, and courage That always pulled us through.

Take me back to yesterday, When people still came through the door, When the line between wrong and right Was a line we honored more. No cell phones ringin’, no machines, Just hearts that knew what they were meant, Take me back to yesterday, Before the world felt so unmeant.

Take me back to yesterday, Just long enough to breathe. Take me back to yesterday, And recall who we used to be.
