In the moment of silence.

On the days when the loudest thing I hear is the deep rustle within my thoughts, about a future that I dream of or a past that haunts me, I take a deep breath, sigh and think to myself “here we go again”.

I'm all too familiar with this phase. It’s the time that passes deep within the big moments. The in-between moments we rarely talk about where everything is numb and silent. No noise, nothing but intense silence.
It's in these moments we really stop to think about our lives, our mistakes, the dreams we pursue, the kind of relationship we crave for. Everything.

We often dread these moments when nothing seems to be happening, and it feels like others are on a speed jet. Maybe it's because it’s the start of a year, I don’t know, but there's something about this present moment that carries a fragrance of familiarity I can’t explain.
Moments like this for me are often characterized by subtle withdrawals, from friends, family…. the lost but found feeling of loneliness that ensues.
In moments like these comparisons hit deep and I find myself hating my entire existence. Sometimes I cry, get overly vulnerable and begin to wallow in self-pity. Lol, dramatic much.

But…
There’s something different about this familiar moment of silence. There’s confidence, a kind of Peace that even I myself can’t explain.
Everything and everywhere feels quiet and nothing seems to be happening and yet, I feel calm and so at Peace. This is so unlike me.
Where is the state of worry, I had come to embrace as a part of me?
Where is the tingling feeling of comparison that lingers on like it has no end?

Instead, my hands are getting steady doing what I can even while I wait for something to happen.
Instead, I'm getting excited and overly happy for the wins of others as though it’s mine. I'm remembering the promises of God to me and feeling so confident about it.
I'm realizing that moments like this are needed. You finally get your mind to a place of quiet and clarity and light begins to brood. It's not a state to dread but a state to crave. And somehow, I love it. I'm hearing myself better. I'm seeing the areas of my life that needs to be worked on.

So yes, in this moment of silence which I’m experiencing, I’m happy. Let me be bold enough to say I'm joyful.
Do I get reminded about the need for something to happen? Definitely.
But how do I explain the peace I feel even in a moment like this. It’s certainly not me. This Peace is an assurance from God.
Yeah.
